A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARSON
AMENDING THE CLASSIFICATION PLAN, RESOLUTION 77-111, AND
THE OOMPENSATION PLAN, RESOLUTION 82-108.
THE CITY OOUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARSON HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The Director of Personnel is authorized and directed under
provision of Section 2793.3 (d) of the Carson Municipal Code to prepare and recoan-
mend, after consultation with department directors, class specifications and amend-
ments to the Compensation Plan, which become effective upon approval by the City
Council.
Section 2. Rule III, Section 1, of the City of Carson Personnel
Rules provides that modifications to the classification plan shall be made only
after consultation with department directors and any affected recognized employee
organization.
Section 3. The Director of Personnel has consulted with the department
directors and the affected recognized employee organization,the American Federation
of State, County and Municipal Employees, local 809.
Section 4. The Classification Plan and Compensation Plan, are hereby
amended by adding the class specification for Clerical Assistant (permanent, part-time)
at range 113 as set.forth in Exhibit A.
PASSED, APPROVED, and ADOPTED this 20th day of 1983.

I, Helen S. Kawagoe, City Clerk of the City of Carson, California,
do hereby certify that the whole number of members of the City Council of said
City is five; that the foregoing resolution, being Resolution No. 83-099 was
duly and regularly adopted by the City Council of said City at a regular meeting
of said Council, duly and regularly held on the 20th day of June, 1983, and that
the same was so passed and adopted by the following vote:

CLERICAL ASSISTANT
(Permanent, Part-Time)
DEFINITION
Under supervision, to perform general clerical work; and to perform related duties
as required.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
Prepares, types and files a variety of general office materials, including, but not
limited to, letters, memoranda, schedules, forms and reports; types materials from
rough drafts, verbal instructions or established procedures; maintains files; operates
telephone switchboard and acts as a receptionist as required; provides information to
the public and staff regarding operations, policies and procedures; maintains inventory
levels and requisitions necessary supplies.
MINIMUIII QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience: Completion of formal education sufficient to assure the
ability to read and write at the level required for successful job performance, and
two (2) years of general clerical experience.
Knowledge of: Basic office practices, procedures and machines; correct English usage;
office filing and indexing methods; telephone techniques.
Ability to: . Type at a speed of not less than 50 words per minute from clear copy, with
95% accuracy; learn assigned office tasks; operate standard office machines; understand
and carry out oral and written instructions; establish and maintain effective working
relationships and deal tactfully with the public.
