RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CARSON EXTENDING ITS CONGRATULATIONS TO
MS. TERESA MARIA VECCA TRANI ON HER 70 YEARS
OF RESIDENCY WITHIN THE CITY OF CARSON
WHEREAS, Teresa Trani has lived within the City of Carson for the
past 70 years; and
WHEREAS, this sojourn within the Carson community began with a
boat ride from Italy in the summer of 1913 and continued across the United
States with Teresa arriving in Carson on October 26, 1913; and
WHEREAS, Teresa and her family farmed at the intersection now
known as Sepulveda and Main in the City of Carson; and
WHEREAS, Teresa's family farmed that area and other areas until
1939 when the family moved to Dolores Street where a new residence was
constructed and farming was done in that general area; and
WHEREAS, they moved from that site and upon the construction of
the Dolores Street School ; and
WHEREAS, their new residence is now the location of Carson High
School ; and
WHEREAS, Teresa and her family moved from that site at the time
Carson High School was constructed; and
WHEREAS, that move was also in the City of Carson to a five-acre
parcel on 223rd; and
WHEREAS, during these 70 years of residency, Teresa's family grew
to include 12 children, 38 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and 3
great-great-grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, during the 70-year residency of Teresa, there has been an
opportunity to witness the rapid evolution and transition of this community
from a farming community on the outskirts of Los Angeles and Long Beach to a
distinct community in its own right.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Carson, California, that our joint appreciation is extended to Teresa Maria
Vecca Trani for her contribution to the social fabric of the City of Carson.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 17th day of October, 1983.

I, Helen S. Kawagoe, City Clerk of the City of Carson, California, do
hereby certify that the whole number of members of the City Council of said City is
five; that the foregoing resolution, being Resolution No. 83-187 was duly and
regularly adopted by the City Council of said City at a regular meeting of said
Council, duly and regularly held on the 17th day of October, 1983, and that the same
was so passed and adopted by the following vote:
AYES: COUNCIL MEMBERS: Bridgers, Calas, Egan, Muise and Mills.
NOES: COUNCIL MEMBERS: None
