A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARSON, CALIFORNIA,
ADOPTING REGULATIONS FOR CANDIDATES FOR ELECTIVE OFFICE, PERTAINING
TO MATERIALS SUBMITTED TO THE ELECTORATE AND THE COSTS THEREOF FOR
THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD IN SAID CITY ON TUESDAY,
THE 10TH DAY OF APRIL, 1984
WHEREAS, Section 10012 of the Elections Code of the State of California
provides the governing body of any local agency to adopt regulations pertaining to
materials prepared by any candidate for a municipal election, including costs thereof;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARSON, CALIFORNIA, DOES HEREBY
RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. GENERAL PROVISIONS. That pursuant to Section 10012 of the
Elections Code of the State of California, each candidate for elective office to be voted
for at the General Municipal Election to be held in the City of Carson on the 10th day of
April, 1984, may prepare a candiate's statement on an appropriate form provided by the City
Clerk. Such statement may include the name, age and occupation of the candidate and a
brief description of no more than two hundred (200) words of the candidate's education and
qualifications expressed by the candidate himself. Such statement shall not include party
affiliation of the candidate, nor membership or activity in partisan political
organizations. Such statement shall be filed in the Office of the City Clerk at the time
the candidate's nomination papers are filed . Such statement may be withdrawn, but not
changed, during the period for filing nominations and until 5:00 p.m., of the next working
day after the close of the nomination period.
SECTION 2. SPANISH LANGUAGE. That the City Clerk shall provide a Spanish
translation of the candidate's statement upon request.
SECTION 3. ADDITIONAL MATERIALS. No candidate will be permitted to include
additional materials in the sample ballot package.
SECTION 4. PAYMENT. That each candidate filing a candidate's statement shall
be billed for the services rendered, a sum no greater than the actual prorated costs of
printing and handling and such bill shall be due and payable immediately upon receipt
thereof.
SECTION 5. That the City Clerk shall provide each candidate or the candidate's
representative a copy of this Resolution at the time nominating petitions are issued.
SECTION 6. That the City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of
this Resolution;shall enter the same in the book of original Resolutions of said City; and
shall make a minute of passage and adoption thereof in the records of the proceedings of
the City Council of said City, in the minutes of the meeting at which the same is passed
and adopted.

I, Helen S. Kawagoe, City Clerk of the City of Carson, California, do
hereby certify that the whole number of members of the City Council of said City is
five; that the foregoing resolution, being Resolution No. 83-211 was duly and
regularly adopted by the City Council of said City at a regular meeting of said
Council, duly and regularly held on the 19th day of December, 1983, and that the
same was so passed and adopted by the following vote:
AYES: COUNCIL MEMBERS: Bridgers, Calas, Egan, Muise and Mills.
NOES: COUNCIL MEMBERS: None
