HomeMy Public PortalAboutResolution - 76-08- 19760310 - Request Assistance in elRESOLUTION NO.76-8 RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE MIDPENINSULA REGIONAL PARK DISTRICT • REQUESTING CONSOLIDATION OF ELECTION AND REQUESTING AUTHORITY FOR REGISTRAR OF VOTERS TO ASSIST DISTRICT CLERK IN THE CONDUCT OF THE SAN MATEO COUNTY ANNEXATION ELECTION TO BE HELD ON JUNE 8, 1976 WHEREAS, on March 3, 1976 the Board of Directors of the Midpeninsula Regional Park District adopted its Resolution No. 76-6 which, among other things, ordered an election upon the question of the "San Mateo County Annexation" to the Midpeninsula Regional Park District to be held on June 8, 1976, and the question is to appear on the same ballot as that for the statewide primary election to be held on that date, and WHEREAS, the Board of Directors wishes to provide for the consolidation of such election with said state primary election as well as for the rendering of certain election services to the District in connection therewith, NOW, THEREFORE, the Board of Directors does hereby resolve as follows: SECTION ONE. The Board of Directors of the Midpen- insula Regional Park District does hereby request, pursuant to Elections Code Sections 23302 et seq., the consolidation of the election upon the question of the San Mateo County Annexation to the Midpeninsula Regional Park District with the statewide primary election to be held June 8, 1976. f SECTION TWO. The question to be voted on at such election as the same is to appear on the ballot is as follows: MIDPENINSULA REGIONAL PARK DISTRICT ANNEXATION MEASURE MEASURE ( ) Shall the order adopted on March 3, 1976 by the Board of Directors of the Midpeninsula Regional Park District ordering the annexation to said district of the territory described in said order and designated therein as "San Mateo County Annexation" be confirmed? SECTION THREE, Pursuant to Elections Code Section 23306 the Board of Directors does authorize the Board of Supervisors of San Mateo County (or such official or officials to whom they may delegate such function) to conduct the canvass of the re- turns of said election on behalf of the District. SECTION FOUR. The precincts, polling places and pre- cinct board members shall, to the extent practicable, be the same as those provided for such state primary election within the territory proposed to be annexed, as prescribed by the ordinance, order, resolution or notice of the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors calling, providing for or giving notice of such other election and which sets forth such precincts, polling places and the names of precinct board members. SECTION FIVE. The Board of Directors further requests, pursuant to Elections Code Section 22003, that the Registrar of Voters be authorized to render services to the District relating to the conduct of said annexation election. The services shall be of the type normally performed by the Registrar of Voters in assisting the clerks of special dis- tricts in the conduct of elections including, but not limited to, checking registrations, printing and mailing ballots, ballot arguments, impartial analyses, hiring election officers and arranging for polling places, and providing and distributing election supplies; provided, the Board of Directors reserves unto itself the authority to file, receive and select arguments for and against the question, as provided in Government Code Sections 56120-56122. SECTION SIX. The Clerk of the Midpeninsula Regional Park District is hereby authorized to hire the services of the Registrar of Voters of the County of San Mateo, to aid in the conduct of said election as hereinabove provided, and the General Manager of the District is hereby authorized and directed to pay the cost of said services,provided that no, payment shall be made for services which the Registrar of Voters is otherwise required by law to perform. SECTION SEVEN. The District Clerk is hereby directed to submit a certified copy of this resolution to the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, and to the County Clerk and the Registrar of Voters of said County. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *•* RESOLUTION NO. 76-8 PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of Directors of the Midpeninsula Regional Park District on March 10 at a regular meeting thereof, by the following vote: , 19 76 AYES: K.
