HomeMy Public PortalAbout84-154RESOLUTION NO. 84-154 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARSON, CALIFORNIA, CALLING AND GIVING NOTICE OF THE HOLDING OF AN ADVISORY ELECTION TO BE HELD IN CONSOLIDATION WITH THE STATEWIDE GENERAL ELECTION TO BE HELD IN SAID CITY ON TUESDAY, THE 6TH DAY OF NOVEMBER, 1984 FOR THE SUBMISSION TO THE QUALIFIED ELECTORS OF SAID CITY OF A CERTAIN QUESTION RELATING TO RESIDENTIAL REFUSE SERVICE WHEREAS, under the provisions of the law a statewide general election will be held on November 6, 1984, and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Carson desires to submit to the qualified electors of said City at said election the question hereinafter set forth for the purpose of allowing the voters to indicate approval or disapproval of such question by advisory vote. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARSON, CALIFORNIA, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Pursuant to the requirements of the law of the State of California relating to general law cities, there shall be, and there is hereby, called and ordered held in the City of Carson, County of Los Angeles, State of California, on Tuesday, the 6th of November, 1984, an advisory election of the qualified electors of said City to be held in consolidation with the statewide general election to be held on said date. Section 2. Said City Council does hereby determine that there shall be and there is hereby ordered submitted to the qualified electors of said City at said advisory election, the following question, to wit: PROPOSITION A ADVISORY VOTE ONLY YES Should the bills for residential garbage and refuse collection be placed on the County tax bills if it would result in savings to the homeowners on the presentNO contract rate? A cross (+) placed in the voting square after the word "YES" in the manner hereinbefore provided shall be counted in favor of the adoption of the question or proposition. A cross (+) placed in the voting square after the word "NO" in the manner hereinbefore provided shall be counted against the adoption of the question or proposition. Section 3. The measure to be voted on at said advisory election shall be designated as Proposition A on the ballot. Section 4. The ballots to be used at said advisory election shall be, both as to form and matter contained therein, such as may be required by law to be used thereat. The City Clerk of said City is hereby authorized, instructed and d—'rected to procure and furnish any and all official ballots, notices, printed matter and all supplies, equipment and paraphernalia that may be necessary in order to properly and lawfully conduct said advisory election. Section 6. In all particulars not recited in this resolution, said advisory elegy n shall be held and conducted as provided by law for holding advisory elections in said City. Section 7. Notice of the time and place of holding said advisory election is hereby given and the City Clerk is hereby authorized, instructed and directed to give such further or additional notice of said advisory election in time, form and manner as may be required by law. Section 8. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this resolution, shall enter the same in the book of original Resolutions of said City and shall make a minute of the passage and adoption thereof in the records of the proceedings of the City Council of said City in the minutes of the meeting at which the same is passed and adopted.
