A regular meeting of Council was held to -day at 4:00 p.m. and was attended by Mayor Lewis, who presided, and Councilmen iogan,Righton, Blumenthal and Cann and Mr. C.J.Richards. Mr. Richards protested against the stopping and arresting of his employess while working on his cottage, Mr. Richards was informed t }:at he did not have a permit authorising the work, after some discussion he' agreed to take out the necessary permits and was excused. The Mayor informed Council that the CWA had returned the applications for repairs to public buildings because the architects fees were included in the amounts requested, this is to be adjusted and the papers returned to Atlanta. The Mayor informed Council that he had written a letter to the Administrator of Federal Works, in Washington,D.C., requesting reconsideration of the application of the Town for funds with which to extend the parking apaees. It was noted that the work on the Butler Avenue project to be done by the CWA forces would begin immediately. The regularmmeeting of Council was held to -day at 4:00 p.m. and was attended by Mayor Lewis, who presided, and Councilmen Sharpley, Blumenthal and Demers., and Mr. E.J.Haar,and Berry B.Lethbridge,jr., Mr. Haar, representing the Tybrisa Company, petitioned that the Town withhold the sale of the Tybrisa Company property which has been advertised for non payment of taxes -- he stated that 200.00 -could be paid now on account and that the balance would be taken care of by May let. Mr Haar was excused. Mr.Lethbridge presented plans for the inauguratio# of a monthly publication featuring Savannah Beach based on co- operative ad- vertising and without cost to the Town. Mr. Lethbridge was excused The minutes of the meeting of December 12th were read and adopted. After discussion it was moved and seconded that the Tybrisa Company pay 200.00 at once on their unpaid taxes and that the balance b paid hot later than May 1st 1934. Motion passed. After some discussion -it was decided to accept the proposition of the Lethbridge advertising Service in the issuing of the 118 News of Savannah Beach, without cost to the Town, and subject to the -- approval of the Town Attorney. the Clerk was instructed to handle the matter. In the matter of the application for repairs and improvements to municipal buildings, same was returned by the CWA adminis- strater with instructions to reduce the material requirements to 15 %, this was done by Mr. Cletus Bergen and the forms re- turned to Mr. Artlet who will approve and send off. A letter was received from Mrs. Heard of the Board of Education requesting that additional rooms by added to the present build- ing now occupied by th school- teacher. It was dp ided by Coun- cil that as the,vTown was not financially able to the work at this time, it would be agreeable to have the Board of Education do the work without cost to the Towm. Mrs. M.E.Sumner, the daughter of former Chief Lysaught,petitdien- ed Council for permission to occupy the Chiefs cottage until June 1st. Permission granted. Mrs. Smith, a resident of of the island, occupying the Jake Figgers cottage, complained about the treatment accorded her by Chief of Police Hildrebh, she contending that he accused her of receiving stolen property, she requests that the Chief apologize for his actions. It was moved and seconded that the Ci_ief be instructed to apologize to Mrs Smith for his actions and that she be informed of the action -of Council. The motion passed. The Clerk was instructed to have the Chief of Police apologize for the incident. It was moved and seconded that the following resolution in connection with the widening of Butler Avenue be Adopted. Motion passed; RESOLUTION. BE IT RE.SOLVED by the Mayor and Councilmen of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, Georgia, in Council assembled, that the following sums of money shall be expended by this minitbipality in the widening of Butler Avenue in said muni- cipality, in connection with the Civil Works Administration, to -wit: Engin-ers 300.00 Hauling material 2700.00 Equipiient and roller 200.00 BE IT BURTHER RESOLVED that the above named sums are hereby appropriated for the above mentioned purpose from the treasury of said municipality and that the Mayor of said municipality is hereby authorized, upon presentation of proper vouchers, to sign and execute the same.
