Having lived and owned a baseball business in Watertown for many years I can certainly say
the Victory Field improvement has been great for the sports community. I have always found
the Watertown fields well -kept and the Parks and Recreation people do their jobs very well and
really do serve the public.
The turf at Victory enables almost year round access to outdoor sporting activities and provides
a "true" field for many different sports. One of the challenges, especially for baseball, is having
the ability to play on a good, even field. This is especially important for youth as it makes
learning and playing the game a better experience. This also translates to all field sports.
I currently run a youth baseball program (Minutemen Baseball) that field teams ages 10U -18U
and a turfed, well maintained field makes a big difference.
I am in favor of any additional improvements that are in the plans and happy to contribute in any
way.
