March 22nd, 1934.
A special meeting of Council was held to -day at 4:00 p.m. and
was attended by Mayor J.C.Lewis, who presided, and Councilmen
Cann, Sharpley, Logan and Blumenthal.
It was moved and seconded the following
managers for the election to held April
$ 3.00 per person; Mrs. Edith U.Carter,
Charles Boblasky and Thomas F.Lynch, as
passed,
named persons be named

It was moved and seconded that the Clerk be authorized to
expend not over $ 25.00 for the expenses incidental to the
election to be held April 2, 1934. Themotion passed.
Solomon and Minnie Williams petidfianed that they be permitted to elect
a building on their property at Port Screven to be used as a
colored dance hall. Petitioned refueled.
The Mayor informed Council that Mr. A.P.Solomon,jr., had complained
about Mr. Bryan doing private work .on the island, after some dis-
cussion it was decided to let Councilman Logan handle the matter
with Mr. Bryan.
TTrs. Marcus Baker, lessee of Hotel Tybee has requested that the
Town swear in a house policemean employed by her. The opinion of
Council.was that this could be done but that the Town would not
be responsible for his actions.
The Mayor informed Council that Mr. Artley had notified him
that it was doubtful if the work on Butler Avenue would be con-
tinued after March 31st.
Councilman Logan called to the attention of Council the regent
gift to the Town of a considerable quantity of steel by Mr.
Merrit W.Dixon. Council went on record as appreciateing the
generousity of Mr. Dixon and instructed the Clerk to write
him alletter thanking him for it.
The matter of building the new parking space extending from
1Tth to 18th streets was discussed Councilman Blumenthal agree-
ing to finance its construction he to be repaid out of the
collection's derived from the parking space.
There being no further business Council adjourned subject to
th7 call of the Mar.
