A. CITY LOGO OPTIONS (Attachment A, B, C, D, E, F, G)
Pursuant to recent Council direction, the City's graphic design
consultant, FUEL Creative Group, developed a series of 10 logo
concepts incorporating bold font type and a camellia design that would
be cohesive with the Rosemead Project's stylized art paver. Upon
Council input and selection of a logo concept, the City Manager and
FUEL Creative Group will work to complete a final logo design by
August 15, 2013. This schedule ensures timely completion of pending
projects that require the new logo, including the new City website
design, new citywide street name signs, and the Rosemead Project's
wayfinding signage and pole banner components.
Assistant to the City Manager/Economic Development Manager Haworth
gave a brief summary of the staff report.
Barbara Hennellv, Fuel Creative Group, answered City Council's
questions regarding the final City logo design concepts via Skype.
Councilmember Vizcarra left the meeting at 8:13 p.m. and returned at
8:16 p.m.
Mayor Sternquist opened public comment.
Mary Kokavko, Temple City resident, spoke in favor of logo design
concept 4d.
Ousama Nimri, Temple City resident, spoke in favor of logo concept on
attachment B.
Jim Clift, Temple City resident, spoke in favor of same letter font size for
"Temple City".
Jerry Jambazian, Temple City business owner, spoke in favor of logo
design concept 4b but with font style from 4c and the letters should be the
same size.
Ken Knollenbero, Temple City resident, commented that the logo design
concepts look different on paper than from a distance.
Councilmember Yu spoke in favor of logo design concept 4a and agreed
that the letter font size should be the same.
Councilmember Vizcarra spoke in favor of logo design concept 4b and like
the font style of design 4c.
Councilmember Chavez spoke in favor of logo design concept 4a or 4c
but would like to see an emphasis on the word Temple versus City. He
would also like to see more background color options.
Mayor Sternquist spoke in favor of logo design concept 4a with the letters
of "Temple City" closer together and maybe with the lettering for "Temple"
a little bigger.
Mayor Pro Tem Blum spoke in favor of logo design concept 4a and like
the font style but think they should be the same size.
Councilmember Blum made a motion to select logo design concept 4a, but
with the same font size for "Temple City", and dark green or dark blue for
the background. If the dark green and dark blue doesn't make the logo
stand out, then back to the black. Seconded by Councilmember Chavez
and unanimously carried.
