SUBJECT: PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION ACTIONS -MEETING OF JULY 17, 2013 RECOMMENDATION: The City Council is requested to receive and file the Parks and Recreation Commission actions from their meeting of July 17, 2013. BACKGROUND: On July 17, 2013, the Parks and Recreation Commission held their reg u larly scheduled meeting. ANALYSIS: Following is a summary of actions taken at the July 17, 2013 Parks and Recreation Commission meeting: 1. ROLL CALL: Present: Commissioner-Haddad, Lopez, Rosso, Vice-Chairman Georgi no, Chairman Fish Absent: Commissioner-None 2. REORGANIZATION OF COMMISSION The Parks and Recreation Commission reorganized electing Commissioner Georgina as Chairman and Commissioner Haddad as Vice-Chairman for Fiscal Year (FY) 2013-14. City Council August 6, 2013 Page 2 of 3 3. CONSENT CALENDAR The Parks and Recreation Commission approved the minutes from their Regular Meeting of May 15, 2013, and received and filed the monthly reports for May and June 2013. 4. UNFINISHED BUSINESS A. The Parks and Recreation Commission received an update on the Parks and Open Space Master Plan. Draft recommendations are expected to be presented to the Parks and Recreation Commission and Planning Commission at a joint meeting in November 2013. B. The Parks and Recreation Commission received an update on the Fixed Route Transit Study. Draft recommendations will be presented to the Parks and Recreation Commission and Public Safety Commission at a joint meeting on July 24, 2013. 5. NEW BUSINESS A. REQUEST FROM TEMPLE CITY AMERICAN YOUTH SOCCER ORGANIZATION (AYSO) FOR AUTHORIZATION TO ALLOW OUTSIDE VENDORS TO SELL ITEMS AT LIVE OAK PARK AND FOR INFLATABLE BOUNCERS FOR THEIR 2013 SOCCERFEST The Commission approved the requests. B. REQUEST FROM TEMPLE CITY YOUTH FOOTBALL (TCYF) TO WAIVE THE 51% RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT FOR RESERVED USE OF THE ATHLETIC FIELDS AT LIVE OAK PARK FOR THEIR 2013 SEASON The Commission approved the request. 6. MATTERS FROM CITY OFFICIALS A. The Commission received and filed the Parks and Recreation Director's Report for July, 2013. B. Commissioner Lopez was appointed liaison to the Youth Committee. CONCLUSION: The City Council is requested to receive and file this report.
