Savannah Beachm Tybee Island, Ga.
April 6th, 1934.
The regular meeting of Council was held to -day at 4:00 p.,.
and was attended by Mayor Lewis, who presided, and Councilmen
Sharpley,Logan,Cann and Highton.
The minutes of the meetings of March 2nd, 22nd and April
2nd were read and adopted.
Councilman Logan presented thebids from the several concerns
for the material to build the bulkhead *nth4oAtlantig C.reo-
spteing Company being the lowest bidder it was then decided
to construct the boardwalk along with the bulkhead and park4ng
space, it was estimated that the cost would be between g 5000.00
and $6000.00 for the complete job -- it was moved and seconded
that the committee handling this work consisting of Councilmen
Logan and Sharpley be authorized to tabulate the bids for the
complete project and award the contract to the lowest bidders,
the motion passed.
It was decided to rent the school- teachers cottage to Mrs
Willis for $ 75.00 fart the season.
The Police Committee was authorized to,purchase 2 police
uniforms for the Police Department, on motion made and seconded
and passed.
It was moved and seconded that the Mayor be authorized to expend
25.00 to help in defrayingtthe expenses of a committee to be
sent to Atli .nta to see Miss Shepperson in an effort to get add-
itional men for the mosquito control work. The motion passed.
Mayor -elect Bright was appointed a committee df ang,toy appoint
a committee to make arrangements for the opening of the coming
summer season.
It was moved and seconded that the following resolution be
adopted. The motion passed;
RESOLUTION.
WHEREAS it is noted by this body with much regret
that Will H. Artley has been forced, by the pressure of his
business, to resign as Administrator in Chatham County, Georgia,
of the Civil Works Administration of the United States Govern-
ment; AND
WHEREAS, as such Administrator in connection with the
work done by the Civil Works Administration upon the Island of
Tybee and within the corporate limits of Savannah Beach, Tybee
Island, Georgia, the Mayor and Councilmen of said Municipality
have come in contact with and have observed the work done upon
said Island under the supervision of Will H. Artley.
NOW, 'mmN, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Councilmen
of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, Georgia, in meeting assembled,
that the resignation of Will H. Artley, as Administrator as
aforesaid, is regretted and his absence will be a distinct loss
to the community of Chatham County, Georgia, and particularly to

the Mayor and Councilmen of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, Geor-
gia, in that there will be missed the patient, pains- taking
and intelligent conception of and the splendid execution of work
done.
RESOLVED FURTHER that this body desires by this Resolu-
tion to express sincere admiration for Will H. Artley and the
work done by him while Administrator as aforesaid.
RESOLVED FURTHER that this Resolution be spread upon the
minutes of this meeting and a copy of the same be mailed to Will
He Artley.
There being no further business Council adjourned sub -
ct to the c 11 of the: Mayor.

April 23rd, 1934.
A special meeting of Council was held today at 4 :00 P. M. and
was attended by Mayor Lewis who presided and Councilmen Sharp -
ley, Logan and Blumenthal. Also Mr. William F. Lynes Jr.
Mr. Lynes representing the Tybee Hotel and Improvement
Company, Owners of Hotel Tybee petitioned; for a reduction in
the assessments imposed on the Hotel property. Mr. Lynes was
excused.
Mr. Reaville M. Brown, Engineer in charge of the re-
habilitation of Fort Pulaski, requests the permission to use
500 feet of the right of way and also the approach to Lazaretto
Creek for the purpose of permitting a boat to land to carry
personel and materials to the job at Fort Pulaski. Council
was of the opinion that it had no authority to do this as the
property was still owned by the Central Railroad.
On motion made and seconded and passed reductions were
made on improvements on the following properties: Hotel Tybee,
$10,000.00, Tybrisa Company ( Breakers Pavilion, $5,000.00 -
Tybrisa Pavilion, $5,000.00).
The Assessment Committee met on March 28, 1934 for the
purpose of arriving at property valuations for the year com-
mencing on May 1, 1934, and submitted the following report
covering the assessments of all Real Setate and Improvements
