HomeMy Public PortalAboutVictory Field - John Papas - 2 6 14_201409080835069659February 4, 2014 To the Leaders of Watertown, My name is John Papas and I am a life-long resident of Watertown. First off, I would like to commend those of you who were involved in bringing PHASE1- the renovation of Victory Field, to our town. In my 57 years, this project may have been the BEST decision I have ever seen in Watertown. As an ex athlete, coach and father of three athletes, I can tell you that the effect this improvement has had on the children of our town is enormous. It is little wonder that the improvement of our schools teams is not by coincidence; rather it's the result of better facilities. The sports teams at WHS are at a 40 yr. high with regards to wins/losses and participation and our new facilities are he major reason. Congrats! Now we face another challenge; Phase 2. I would request that we "continue to improve" by putting a new face on the facilities across the street. Lets keep the good things happening! New track, more turf, Lights, new courts, more parking will make us unequivocally the town with the BEST facilities in not only the Middlesex League, but all of eastern Massachusetts. Towns like Belmont, Brookline, Wellesley, Weston and Lexington will be jealous of what we have! For those worried about the money spent, it will also have a MAJOR effect on property value and quality of life, not only for the children but also for us adults who still want to stay active (especially the track and tennis courts). The implementation of PHASE 2 will be key in our quest to be a special community. Please vote YES to get this done! Sincerely, John S. Papas 259 Mount Auburn Street
