On motion made and seconded the following Resolution
was passed;
RESOLUTION
RESOLVED that the report of the Committee on Assess- '
manta of valuations of Real Estate and Improvements thereon
in Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, Ga., for the year commencing
May 1, 1934, be received and the valuations as thereon assess-
ed be adopted as the basis of Assessment for taxation of Real
Estate and Improvements in said Savannah Beach, Tybee Island,
Ga., for the year ending April 30th, 1935.
Th4 e being no further business Council adjourned sub-
ject to try- call of the Mayor.

A special meeting of Council was held toddy at 4 :00
P. M. and was attended by Mayor Lewis who presided,and Council-
men Logan, Blumenthal and Cann.
It was moved and seconded that the Budget for the year
commencing May 1, 1934 be adopted and upon the unanimous agree-
ment of Council was placed on second .reading and passed.
BUDGET ORDINANCE
AN ORDINANCE to be entitled an Ordinance to adopt the Budget
for the fiscal year commencing May 1st, 1934, as prepared and
submitted by the Finance Committee of the Mayor and Council-
men of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, Ga., and for other pur-
poses.
SECTION 1. Be it ordained by the Mayor and Councilmen of
Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, Ga., in meeting assembled that
the attached budget, which is hereby made a part hereof, as
prepared by the Finance Committee of the Mayor and Councilmen
of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, Ga., for the fiscal year

commencing May 1st, 1934, be and the same is hereby adopted.
SECTION 2. Be it further ordained that all Ordinances or
parts of Ordi%andee<3thereof in conflict herewith be and the
same are hereby repealed.

It was moved and seconded that an Ordinance for the
taxation of real and personal property ti-s- Tewn. - and
also to provide for the rate of licenses for doing business
in the Town for the year commencing May 1, 1934, be adopted
and by the unanimous agreement of Council was placed on
second reading and passed.

ORDINANCE
129
TO PROVIDE for the taxation of real and personal
property in the Town of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, ifra.,
for the fiscal year commencing May lst, 1934, and to provide
for the rate of licenses for doing business in said Town of
Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, Ga., for the fiscal year end-
ing April 30, 1935, and for other purposes.
SECTION 1. Be it Ordained by the Mayor and Council-
men of the Tpwn of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, Ga., in
Council assembled and it is hereby ordained by the authority
of the same that the rata of taxation upon real estate and
personal property within the limits of the said Town of
Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, Ga., for the fiscal year com-
mencing May lst, 1934, shall be ONE AND ONE-QUARTER PER CENT
upon the assessed or returned talus of same, the value of
real estate and improvements to be ascertained from the re-
turns of the Committee on Assessments of said Mayor and Coun-
cilmen and the valuation of personal property to be ascertain-
ed from the returns of the owners thereof in pursuance of
the scheme and plan contained in sections One, Two, Three and
Four of the Ordinance to provide for the assessment of taxa-
ble property in the Town of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island,
Ga., and the mode of valuing such property for taxation and
to carry into effect the provisions of the Act of the (eneral
Assembly of the State of Georgia approved August 19, 1922,
Section 21, passed in Council assembled October 13, 1922,
and it is further ordained that if any person or persons
should refuse of neglect to pay and tax required by this Or-
dinance within THIRTY (30) DAYS after same shall become due,
or shall fail or refuse to pay any DOUBLE TAX assessed as
above provided within THIRTY (30) DAYS after same shall be-
come due, the Clerk of Council as Ex- officio Treasurer of said
Town shall issue execution therefor and the further sum of
ONE DOLLAR ($1.00) for costs, the Chief of Police and Ex -of-
ficio Tax Collector shall proceed with such execution in the
same manner as now provided by the law in siich cases of exe-
cution lodged with the Sheriff of Chatham County.
SECTION 2. Be it further ordained that any property,
including new improvements upon completion and installation,
will become taxable after May 1, 1934, and shall be subject
to taxation from the first day of the month immediately suc-
ceeding the time when the same becomes taxable and the owner
or owners shall pay such proportion of the tax required by
this Ordinance as the time left for the taxable year shall
bear to the whole.

SECTION 3. And every person who shall pay his taxes
within FIFTEEN (15) DAYS after same shall become due shall
be entitled to a deduction of TWENTY (20) PER -CENT on account,
thereof, and the Clerk of Council and Ex- officio Treasurer of
said Town is hereby authorized to make such deduction upon
receipt of tai. The provision of this section shall not apply
to licenses for doing business in said Town, the rate for such
licenses being NET.
SECTION 4. The licenses for doing business in the
Town of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, Ga., for the fiscal
year ending April 30, 1935, payable on or before commencing
of business, shall be as follows;
SECTION 5. In the event any business or calling not
specifically mentioned in the above list set forth shall be
established in the Town of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, Ga.,
the Mayor and Councilmen reserve the right to establish a
license fee for same by resolution, which fee is to be of
equal dignity as the license specifically mentioned in the
above section, provided however that such licenses shall not
be less than TWO DOLLARS -FIFTY CENTS and not more than the
sum of ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS.
SECTION 6. This Ordinance shall be subject to altera-
tions or repeal in whole or in part at any time during the
fiscal year beginning May 1, 1934, should it be deemed advis-
able and no such amendment or repeal shall be construed to
impair the right of Council to assess or levy tax for the
whole of such year whenever made.
SECTION 7. All ordinances or parts of ordinances con-
flicting with provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed,
providing nevertheless that so much and such parts of ordi-
nances passed as provided for the execution for any tax assess-
ment, or part of tax assessment, required by such ordinance
and now remaining unpaid, shall continue and remain in force
so as to authorize the Clerk of Council and Ex- officio Treasu-
rer to issue executions and the Chief of Police and Ex- officio
Tax Collector to collect same, until taxes or assessments
shall be fully paid.
It was moved and seconded and passed that the following
Ordinance be adopted to make it unlawful to any person or
vehicle to go upon the grass plats in the center of Butler
Avenue. Upon the unanimous agreement of Council the same
was placed on second reading and passed.

was not held d to the lack of a quorume

May 7th, 1934.
A regular meeting of Council was held today at 4:00 F.
and was attended by Mayor Lewis who presided and Councilmen
Logan, Sharpley, Blumenthal, Cann and Righton. The minutes of
the meetings og April 6th, 23rd and 30th were read and adopted..
Mr. Sam 'Blumenthal petitioned that the assessments on
the'improvements on this property on Lot 5, Ward 6 were too
high and requested a reduction of 32,500.00. After some dis-
cussion, it was moved and seconded and passed that the reduc-
tion be granted. (Mr. Blumenthal did not vote on the motion.)
As there was no further business to come before the old
board before its retirement, Mayor Lewis thanked the Members
of Council for their splendid co- operation and support during
his tenure of Office and said that without their help,a±id gui-
dance, he would not have been able to have carried on.
Councilman Cann, speaking for the Members of the board,
presented Mayor Lewis with a present and in doing so said
that he wanted the Mayor to accept the gift as a little token
of appreciation from the Members of Council for the pleasure
it gave them to be associated with him in conducti$# the af-
fairs of the Town,as efficiently as he had.
