SUBJECT: PLANNING COMMISSION ACTIONS-MEETING OF AUGUST 12,2013
RECOMMENDATION:
The City Council is requested to receive and file actions of the Planning Commission
from their meeting of August 12, 2013 .
BACKGROUND:
On August 12, 2013, the Planning Commission held their regularly scheduled meeting.
ANALYSIS:
The following is a summary of actions taken at the August 12, 2013 Planning
Commission meeting:
1. ROLL CALL:
Present: Commissioner -Curran, Horton, O'Leary
Absent: Commissioner-Vice-Chairman Leung, Chairman Cordes
Excused: Commissioner-None
2. CONSENT CALENDAR
The Planning Commission approved the minutes from their regular meeting of July
23, 2013.

A CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT 13-1828, A REQUEST TO ESTABLISH A
NEW CELLULAR ANTENNA FACILITY THAT WOULD BE ATTACHED TO A
70 FOOT TALL LIGHT POLE LOCATED IN THE ATHLETIC FIELD AT
TEMPLE CITY HIGH SCHOOL
Due to a lack of aesthetic quality, the Planning Commission voted to deny the
Conditional Use Permit. The proposed request was to establish a new
cellular antenna facility that would be attached to a 70 foot tall light pole
located in the athletic field at Temple City High School. Despite staff's
recommendation, the applicant opted not to improve the aesthetics of the
cellular antenna.
The Planning Commission denied the Conditional Use Permit request on a 3-
0 vote.

B. MATTERS FROM CITY OFFICIALS -None
C. UPDATE FROM THE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR AND
DEVELOPMENT MANAGER
Mark Persico reported the following items to the Planning Commission:
training for the Brown Act on August 29 and Community Emergency
Response Team (CERT) September 27, 28, and 29; the Historic Preservation
Ordinance, and the Sign Code Ordinance; a consultant for the upcoming
Housing Element; and a public workshop on September 24 pertaining to the
Housing Element. He also updated the Planning Commission regarding the
remodel and closure of the City Council Chambers from September 4 through
November 4, and cancellation of the Planning Commission Meeting of
October 8, due to a Jack of quorum as three commissioners will attend the
annual California Chapter American Planning Association (CCAPA)
Conference. Lastly, he announced that moneys for the General Plan has
been approved in the Fiscal Year 2013-14 budget.
D. ADJOURNMENT
The Planning Commission meeting was adjourned at 7:51 p.m.
