I gave each of these murals a title and tried to have a subject story about them:

Suggested subject Title: "Temple City's Life Story"
Four Mosaic Murals
Sizes & Locations:
A- 18 x 120 inches, South /West of Calita and Rosemead Blvd.
B- 18 x 120 inches, South /East of Calita and Rosemead Blvd.
C- 18 x 156 inches, North /West of Las Tunas and Rosemead Blvd.
D- 18 x 180 inches, South /East of Las Tunas and Rosemead Blvd.
1- Steps of the project:
- Design: researches, gather ideas
- Drawing and Painting
- Approval of client/City
- Enlarge the design
- Order materials
- Execution: Start mosaic work
- Photos of work in progress to be sent to client/City monthly
- Casting. Final work would be pieces of big mosaic tiles
- Grouting
- Sealing
- Delivery of 26 mosaic puzzle pieces to Temple City
2- Suggested materials:
- Italian and Mexican Smalti (handmade glass) and 24Karat Gold Smalti
- Venetian iridescent tile
- Mirror glass tiles can be used in some areas
- Pebbles glass
- Natural stone as granite, marble, travertine etc.
3- Commwiity Project:
- We can simplify the design a little bit and get to have the community to have part in the
project. We can work with schools, clubs, organizations, etc.
4- Technique:
Byzantine indirect Technique
5- Time to complete the project: To be determent according to the final design
6- Design Idea/ Statement:
The shape of the mosaic mural is long comparing to its height. This space gave me
the idea of a strip film that holds images of Temple City.
Trying to make the pedestrians busy looking at those mosaics can give us the chance to teach
them a little bit about the history of Temple City and how things changed with time while
keeping their hopes and spirits lifted.
The film strip has these images starting in black and white, representing how things began,
and continuing with colors to portray how things are currently.
