A special meeting of Town Council was held today
in the City Hall of Savannah at 12 Noon and was attended by
Chairman of Council Cann, who presided, and Councilmen
Blumenthal, Logan,,-Righton and Demers.. Also Town Attorney
McIntire.
The purpose of the meeting was to elect a success-
or to Dr. Kinyoun, who was appointed Health Officer and who
declined to serve and asked to be relieved. On motion made
and seconded, it was moved that the resignation be accepted.
After some discussion, Councilman Righton moved that Dr. V.
H. Bassett be appointed Health Officer and Councilman Blumen-
thal seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
There being no further business, Council adjourned

A spacial meeting of Council was held today at
4 P. Me and was attended by Mayor Bright who presided and
Councilmen Cann, Blumenthal, Righton and Town Attorney
McIntire, and Ir. A. F. Solms.
Refering to the appointment of Dr. V. H. Bassett
as Health Officer, the Mayor informed Council that as the
Mayor was empowered to appoint the Health Officer, he would
make this appointment at a later date.
Mr. H. C. Foss of the Savannah Electric Company,
offered to give a number of chairs that had formerly been used
in Street Cars. The matter was refered to Councilman Logan

for handling.
The Savannah Press requested the Town to take an
Ad in the Tybee Opening Edition bgt the opinion of Council
was it should not be done at this time.
The Mayor informed Council that as Mr. A. F. Solms
had instituted injunction proceedings against the Town, stop-
ping the erection of the fence along the Strand, he request-
ed Mr. Solms to appear before the board with.a view to en-
deavor to adjust the differences existing that would be
satisfactory to both parties. Mr. Solms stated that as the
20 ft. drive proposed by Council was not of sufficient width
to permit guests of his hotel to have access to his property
and he could not get the Town to stop the work on the fence
that was being erected on the Strand in front of his proper-
ty, he had to resort to the Courts. After some discussion,
Mr. Solms was asked to state what he wanted the Town to do.
Mr. Solms presented the following requests:-
1. The Town allow a 60 foot drive along the
Strand from 16th to 17th Streets, extending
Eastward from the property line.
2. That a walkway be provided extending from
Izlar Avenue Eastward to Boardwalk.
3. That the proposed 30 minute parking ordinance
shall not apply to his Hotel's guests.
4. That the Town agree to pay costs of Court
proceedings.
Mr. Solms was excused.
Council after some discussion, took up each of Mr.
Solms' requests in order, ' as folloWs:-
1. It was moved and seconded and passed that
the Town agree to increase the width of the
driveway on the Strand from its present
width of 20 feet from the property line ex-
tending Eastward to 35 feet from the proper-
ty line extending Eastward.
2. It was moved and seconded and passed that
a reasonable space be maintained in the park-
ing of vehicles on the Strand, on a line
extending from Izlar Avenue to the Boardwalk,
to permit pedestrains to get to and from the
Beach.
3. It was moved and seconded and passed -that
any concession stand or hotel or rooming
house operator doing business on Strand from
16th to 17th Streets, be issued a book of
tickets at a cost of 100 per ticket these in

turn to be issued to patrons or guests of
their places of business, tickets to be good
only in parking vehicles on the Western side
of the 35 foot drive on the Western side of
the Strand.
4. It was moved and seconded and passed that the
Town pay the costs of Court but not any
Attorneys fees.
Mr. Solms was called into the Council Chamber and
the Mayor submitted the Town's proposition to him. Mr. Solms
asked permission to study the proposal and submit same to his
associates. Council agreed to this and Mr. Solms was request-
ed to confer with the Mayor relative to his decision.
There being no further business Council adjourned,

The regular meeting of Council was held at 4:00 `
P. M., and was attended by Mayor Bright who presided and
Councilmen Cann, Blumenthal, Righton, Sharpley and Logan,
Town Attorney F. P. McIntire and Messrs. H. P. Anderson and
E. J. Haar.
Mr. Anderson petitioned that he be granted a
reduction in the assessments on his property or that he be
granted the disoount on the back taxes due by him. Mr.
Anderson was excused. After some discussion, it was moved
and seconded and passed that the matter be referred to the
Assessment Committee.
Mr. Haar, representing Solomon and Minnie Williams,
petitioned that his clients be permitted to operate a soft
drink stand on the property near Fort Screven. Mr. Haar
was informed that the Police Committee had reported unfavor-
ably on permitting this place to operate . And on motion
moved and seconded and passed, it was decided that the re-
port'of the Police Committee be adopted and that no license
be granted to operate the place.in question. Mr. Haar was
excused.
The minutes of the meetings of May 7th, 16th and
24th were read and adopted except as to that portion of the
minutes of l lay 7th, in which Council reduced the assessments
on the property of Mr. Samuel Blumenthal, $2500.00. Council
