JOB TITLE: BOOKKEEPER
SALARY RANGE
$21.33 - $34.12 Hourly
$44,366.40 – 70,969.60 Annually
GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under general supervision, performs general office work and assigned accounting functions for the general
government.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
▪ Performs general office work as required, including handling incoming calls and office visitors.
▪ Responsible for financial reports, general ledger maintenance, budget maintenance and management
including budget amendments and adjustments with the creation of affiliated resolutions.
▪ Maintains and oversees daily bank account balances with authority to transfer funds between town
accounts and make electronic fund transfers as authorized by the Town Manager and/or Town
Commission, bank account reconciliations, accounts payable processing, and account and fund
reconciliations.
▪ Annual TRIM compliance and submissions to all governing county and state officials.
▪ Annual audit.
▪ Issues annual 1099, 1095 statements and maintains W9’s for contractors/vendors, creates new vendors
and contractors in financial software system. Serves as the financial software administrator and must
maintain a working understanding of all processes involved in all areas of finance including but not
limited to: Accounts Payable, Budget, General Ledger, Accounts Receivable, and Fixed Assets.
▪ Responsible for filing annual financial and other mandated reports to state agencies.
▪ Serves as the primary FEMA contact for post disaster grant filing and reporting. Serve as the post
disaster destruction surveyor/assessor for the County Emergency Operation Center for Palm Beach
County.
ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS
▪ Assists the Acting CFO with special projects or research as necessary. Assists office colleagues as
needed.
▪ Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
▪ Graduation from high school or equivalent combination of training that provides the required
knowledge, skills, and abilities.
▪ Three (3) years of accounting experience or bookkeeping experience.
▪ Requires the ability to speak and/or signal people to convey or exchange information. Includes
receiving assignments and/or directions from superiors.
▪ Requires the ability to read a variety of correspondence, forms, invoices, checks, permits, manuals, etc.
Requires the ability to prepare correspondence, reports, forms, etc. using prescribed formats.
▪ Requires the ability to utilize mathematical formulas, to add and subtract, multiply and divide; utilize
decimals and percentages.
▪ Must be physically able to operate a variety of office machines including multi-line telephones,
calculators, copiers, etc. Must be able to exert a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to
lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
