HomeMy Public PortalAboutVictory Field - Tom Wittenhagen - 1 28 14_201409080835155442Currently, the track complex at Victory is in poor shape. The oval has only six lanes as compared to the standard eight lane track. The surface needs to be redone as it is worn quite thin in several locations. The throwing and jumping pit are, also, in very poor conditions. In the throwing area the cement surfaces have deteriorated over the years from use be Watertown athletes. The landing areas for the throws are are uneven at should be made of sand or clay in the case of the shot put. The jumping areas are even worse. They are the worst in the Middlesex League. The run ways need resurfacing and the landing pit are a disaster. At the very least they need to be completely replaced. We, also, have no high pole vault area or landing pits. Watertown has a tremendous history of the pole vault but not in the recent past due to lack of facilities. Please consider redoing the entire facility so the Watertown Track Team and Community can have a state of the art facility. Sincerely, Tom Wittenhagen Watertown X-C and Track Coach
