July 23rd, 1934..
A specila meeting of Council was held to -day at 4:00 p.m. and
was attended by Mayor Bright, who presided, and Councilmen Ca/2/2,
Sharpley, Logan,Righton, Blumenthal, Lovell °and Town Attorney
McIntire and A.P.Solomon,jr.
On motion made and seconded and passed the following ordinance
was placed on first reading and upon the unanamous consent of
Council was placed on second reading and passed;
ORDNANCE.
AN ORDINANCE TO BE ENTITLED AN. ORDNANCE TO ADD TO THE
STANDING CO?"MITTIAR OF COUNCIL A COMMITTEE TO BE DESIGNATED
THE FIRE COMMITTEE; to prescribe its duties and for other purposes.
SECTION 1 BE IT ORDAINED by the Mayor and Council of
Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, Ga., in meeting assembled that an
additional standing committee of Council is hereby created to
consist of three Councilmen of the Board to be selected by the
Mayor, one of whom at the time of selection shall be designated
by the Mayor as Chairman.
SECTION 2 SAID FIRE COMMITTEE shall have specially re-
ferred to it for a ttention all matters in connection with fires
and fire control within the corporate limits of Savannah Beach
and within its jurisdictional limits thereof and ans such other
matters as may be referred to it by the Mayor.
SECTION 3 BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that all ordinances
or parts of ordinances thereof in conflict herewith be and the
same are hereby repealed..
The Mayor announced the appointment of Councilman, Lovell
as Chairman and that the other members would be appointed
later.
Mr. A.P.Solomon,jr., submitted a report of the estimated
cost to install and equip a volunteer fire department, which
amounted to ..$ 23'70.00. After some discussion it was decided,
that it was the sense of the meeting that the plans suggested t
by Mr. Solomon be adopted.
There being no further business Council adjourned subject to
tje call of the Mayor. 4 4
