Sheehan.
Mr. Sheehan petitio jed that the post on which a "No Parking"
sign was fastened, located at the head of Eighth Street, be
replaced at the spot from which it had been removed, Mr.
Sheehan was excused. No action was taken in the matter.
The minutes of the meetings of July 9th and 23rd, were read
and approved.
The Mayor annoupced, the appointment of Councilmen Logan and
Sharpley on the Fire Committee.
On the petition of several business places petitioning that
the Town place a tax of 1% per bottle on all soft and malt
drinks sold in the Town. The opinion of the Town Attorney
was that the Town had no authority to assess this tax.
The'Health and Drainage Committee reported that the matter
of the unsanitary condition existing at the building on 15th
Street and lst Avenue had been adjusted .
Mrs. Wolf Wjlensky petitioned that t,ae license of $ 25.00
assessed against her for running a dining room, be reduced
or that she be relieved of having to pay it. The opinion of
Council was that it shoull•be paid.
Mrs. Eugenia Willis petitioned that she'sbe relieved of paying
a rental charge of $ 75.00 to the Town for the occupancy of
a small cottage furnished her during the school months with-
out charge. It was moved and seconded that she be permitted
to occupy the cottage without charge during the summer months
provide' that she did not rent same out. The motion passed.
There being no further business Council adjourned subject to
th= call of the yor.
