4. NEW BUSINESS
A. The Planning Commission conducted a workshop to establish a Historic
Preservation Program and Ordinance. Andrea Galvin, President of GPA
Consulting Inc., and Jenna Kachour, Associate Preservation Planner of GPA
Consulting Inc., provided a powerpoint presentation and engaged the public
regarding their thoughts on historic preservation. A questionnaire was
distributed at the workshop to gather additional information regarding public
input. Ultimately the Planning Commission felt that it was too soon to provide
direction as to proceed or not proceed with a Historic Preservation Ordinance,
but felt that it would be best to recommend that it be included in the General
Plan.
The Planning Commission voted that the City Council include the creation of a
Historic Preservation Ordinance with the General Plan on a 3-1 vote.
