HomeMy Public PortalAbout01/23/79 Special CCMThe Council of the City of Medina met in special session on Tuesday, January 23, 1979 at 5:10 p.M. to discuss budget. car Members present: Mayor, Thomas Anderson; Councilmembers, Thomas Crosby, Nancy Laurent, William Reiser, Sarah Lutz; Clerk, Donna Roehl; Police Officers, Jerome LaFond, Michael Rouillard, Charles Hoover; Public Works Employees, Robert Dressel, Ronald Duran and James Dillm.an. Discussion of salaries, overtime pay and paid holidays was conducted with all employees. Motion by Laurent, seconded by Lutz to increase salaries of all employees by 10%. Discussion of longevity payment of 2% now paid to police after 5 years of employment and the fact that it should apply to all employees. Motion carried. Voting No: Reiser, Crosby William Reiser stated that he believed the increase should be 7% to stay within Federal guidelines. Motion byCrosby, seconded by Laurent to approve an additional 2% longevity increase to all city employees that qualify by being continuously employed for 5 years. Motion carried unanimously Council agreed to take under advisement additonal legal holidays, court time for police and overtime pay for all employees. They agreed to ask thet study committees review such additional benefits. Mayor Anderson reported that all study committees would be meeting on Monday, January 29th at 7:30 p.M. to begin their work. Council spent additional time on various department budget items. Motion by Reiser, seconded by Lutz to adjourn.
