Pulido, City Manage ()., • ~ Via : Mark Persico, AICP, C~-;-~unity Development Director By: Jennifer Venters, Community Development Department Secretary SUBJECT: PLANNING COMMISSION AND PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION ACTIONS-SPECIAL JOINT MEETING OF NOVEMBER 12,2013 RECOMMENDATION: The City Council is requested to receive and file actions of the Planning Comm ission and Parks and Recreation Commission fro m their special joint meeting of November 12,2013. BACKGROUND: On November 12, 2013, the Planning Commission and Parks and Recreation Commission held a joint commission meeting. ANALYSIS: The following is a summary of actions taken at the November 12, 2013 Planning Commission and Parks and Recreation Commission joint meeting: 1. ROLL CALL: Present: Commissioner-Curran, Horton O'Leary, Vice-Cha irman Leung, Chairman Cordes, Fish, Lopez, Rosso, Vice -Chairman Haddad , Chairman Georgino Absent: Commissioner -None Excused : Commissioner-None 2 . CO NSE NT CALENDAR-None City Council December 3, 2013 Page 2 of 2 3. UNFINISHED BUSINESS-None 4. NEW BUSINESS A. The Planning Commission and Parks and Recreation Commission held a joint commission meeting to review the draft Parks and Open Space Master Plan. Consultants Doug Grove, RHA Landscape Architects Planners Inc.; and Neelay Bhatt, Pros Consulting LLC, provided a powerpoint presentation offering suggestion for several parks and open space opportunity including: commercial and residential areas; development of parklets; biking and hiking trails; and shared use agreements with public and private schools. Recommendations for improved amenities include but are not limited to additional shade shelters, benches, multi-generational programs, allowable dog walking and Wi-Fi technology. The Planning Commission and Parks and Recreation Commission voted to evaluate public and commission comments for any action items and to move forward with the Parks and Open Space Master Plan, on a 10-0 vote. 5. COMMUNICATIONS-None 6. MATTERS FROM CITY OFFICIALS-None 7. UPDATE FROM THE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR-None 8. ADJOURNMENT The Planning Commission and Parks and Recreation Commission joint meeting was adjourned at 9:26p.m. CONCLUSION: The City Council is requested to receive and file this report. FISCAL IMPACT: This item does not have an impact on the Fiscal Year (FY) 2013-14 City Budget.
