A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CARSON, CALIFORNIA IN SUPPORT OF OPENING THE
NEW COUNTY JAIL FACILITY
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARSON HEREBY RESOLVES
AS FOLLOWS:
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Carson works hard to maintain
public safety in its community; and,
WHEREAS, the $373 million jail facility that was recently constructed would
alleviate problems of overcrowding in other County jails; and,
WHEREAS, at present, thousands upon thousands of inmates are released
early to relieve overcrowding conditions; and,
WHEREAS, this poses a threat to public safety in Southern California.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved that the City Council of the City of
Carson urges county, state, and federal officials to work together to develop funding to
open, staff and operate the Twin Tower jail facility.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 18th day of June, 1996.

I, Helen S. Kawagoe, City Clerk of the City of Carson, California, do hereby certify
that the whole number of members of the City Council of said City is five; that the foregoing
resolution, being Resolution No. 96-055 was duly and regularly adopted by the City Council
of said City at a regular meeting of said Council, duly and regularly held on the 18th day
of June, 1996, and that the same was so passed and adopted by the following vote:
