A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARSON
AUTHORIZING THE PUBLIC EMPLOYEES' RETIREMENT
SYSTEM TO GRANT AN ADDITIONAL DESIGNATED PERIOD
OF TWO YEARS SERVICE CREDIT FOR THE
CITY OF CARSON PURSUANT
TO GOVERNMENT CODE SECTION 20903
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARSON HEREBY RESOLVES AS
FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The City of Carson is a contracting Public Agency of the
Public Employees' Retirement System; and
Section 2. The City desires to provide another designated period for
Two Years Additional Service Credit, Section 20903, based on the contract
amendment effective May 1, 1983, which provided for Section 20903, Two
Years Additional Service Credit, for eligible local miscellaneous members.
Section 3. The City Council certifies that it is electing to utilize the
provisions of Government Code Section 20903 because of impending mandatory
transfers, demotions, or layoffs that constitute at least one percent of the
designated job classifications, department or organizational unit. The impending
mandatory transfers, demotions or layoffs result from a curtailment and/or
change in the manner the City performs services.
Section 4. The City Council certifies that its intention at the time
Section 20903 becomes operative is to keep all vacancies created by retirements
under this section or at least one vacancy in any position in any department or
other organizational unit permanently unfilled thereby resulting in an overall
reduction in the work force of such department or organizational unit.

Section 5. It is resolved that the City does seek to add another
designated period and does hereby authorize this resolution, indicating a desire to
add designated period from July 1, 1997 through December 28, 1997, for eligible
miscellaneous members in the City of Carson.

March, 1997, and that the same was passed and adopted by the following vote:
