RE: RECYCLE BINS ON AIRPORT
Dear Bud:
I recently spoke with Cindy LeBrett regarding placement of County
recycle collection bins on McCall Airport property. The primary
issue, as I understand it, is whether the FAA would restrict this
activity on the airport? It is our opinion, that there are no
restrictions as long as there are no obstructions or hazards to air
operations surfaces or Part 77 airspace. Since the facility is
small and distant from active air operations and no hazards such as
smoke or blowing debris are likely, we do not see any problems from
this standpoint.
I do want to voice two additional considerations. First, it is my
understanding the unit is not a permanent installation, if it were,
consideration must be given to its potential impact on future
facilities identified in the ALP. Second, this activity will draw
more people, vehicles, etc., onto the airport property and into the
vicinity of private hangars. Security and unrestricted access onto
operational surfaces has been an issue of concern in our minds for
some time. The additional activity around the facility must be
controlled and directed away from airport and hangar facilities.
This will at least require signs and possibly fencing. Occasional
policing may also be necessary if unauthorized activity on the
airport from this area is noted.
If you have any questions relative to these comments or desire
additional input, please call.
Sincerely,
Charles P. Sundby/P.E.
