A RESOLUTION APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING APPROPRIATE FUND
TRANSFERS AND RECLASSIFICATIONS OF EXPENDITURES IN ORDER TO
IMPLEMENT FUND ACCOUNTING PRACTICES AND REQUIREMENTS BYTHE
STATE OF IOWA AND THE CITY OFTIFFIN `S FINANCIAL AUDIT FOR FISCAL
YEAR ENDIBNG JUNE 30, 2009
Whereas, the City Council of the City of Tiffin, Iowa in Johnson County recognizes that
the State of Iowa requires all city governments to practice fund accounting and to
maintain financial reporting on a fund accounting basis;
Whereas, the City Council recognizes that the schedule of findings in the financial audit
for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2009 addresses the deficiency on the part of the City
of Tiffin to "facilitate fund accounting as required for governmental accounting and
financial reporting ".
Whereas, the City council is desirous of meeting the financial obligations as required by
the State of Iowa and has directed the Interim City Clerk, in conjunction with the
consultant from Data Technologies, Inc. to develop and implement a system to identify
and to make appropriate corrections to the accounts to bring them into standards of
compliance set forth in the audit report for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2009 and to
apply the ending fund balances reported on the annual financial report filed for the fiscal
year ending June 30, 2011.
Now, therefore be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Tiffin, Iowa that the
attached fund transfers and reclassifications be authorized and approved in order to
meet the above specified goals.
On the 11th day of April, 2012, at a regular meeting of the Tiffin City Council, Tiffin, Iowa,
Councilperson Weipert introduced Resolution No. 2012 -09, A RESOLUTION
APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING APPROPRIATE FUND TRANSFERS AND
RECLASSIFICATIONS OF EXPENDITURES IN ORDER TO IMPLEMENT FUND
ACCOUNTING PRACTICES AND REQUIREMENTS BYTHE STATE OF IOWA AND
THE CITY OFTIFFIN `S FINANCIAL AUDIT FOR FISCAL YEAR ENDIBNG JUNE 30,
2009 and made a motion for approval. Motion seconded by Councilperson Bartels.
Ayes: Ryan, Ball, Weipert, Bartels, Upton. Nays: none. Absent: none.
Whereupon 5 Council members were present and voted approval and Mayor Berner
declared that the Resolution No. 2012 -09, A RESOLUTION APPROVING AND
AUTHORIZING APPROPRIATE FUND TRANSFERS AND RECLASSIFICATIONS OF
EXPENDITURES IN ORDER TO IMPLEMENT FUND ACCOUNTING PRACTICES
AND REQUIREMENTS BYTHE STATE OF IOWA AND THE CITY OFTIFFIN `S
FINANCIAL AUDIT FOR FISCAL YEAR ENDIBNG JUNE 30, 2009 be adopted and
signified his approval of the same by affixing his signature thereto.
Passed by the City Council on the 11th day of April, 2012.
