INTRODUCTION
Coming from a long line of genealogy researchers and town
historians, I have learned to respect the need of preserving and
documenting detailed information. Future generations will someday
depend upon what we have left for there, so if we don't write down what
we know, when we know it, it may be lost forever.
The gravestones of our ancestors are a vital source of information in
genealogical research. After visiting many cemeteries in a quest for
answers, I have seen how time and the elements are taking their toll on
the stones. Many of the older ones are so deteriorated that they are
unreadable or very close to it and that is how this little project came
about. With the help of my eagle-eyed daughter, Jill, we have recorded
the inscriptions and epitaphs of this cemetery (to the best of our ability)
as they appear on each stone.
INSTRUCTION
There are two different listings by which you can research a stone.
1. By Number: each stone in the cemetery was assigned a
number and recorded accordingly. You can find the location of any
particular stone by finding that same STONE number on the enclosed
maps. The underlined number that you see on the map is the LOT #.
2. By Surname: Refers you to the STONE # that the name
appears on. ALL surnames, including maiden names (when
given) are indexed.
The cemetery is divided into 2 sections. The old, original section is
behind the black iron fence. There are maps of both areas enclosed for.
your use.
Done in loving memory of our families, the Yorks, the Pritchards, and of
my husband, David S. Gagnon.
