A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD
APPROVING SUPPORT OF THE 2016 RELAY FOR LIFE EVENT, USE OF
LYNWOOD CITY PARK SOCCER FIELDS AND THE BATEMAN HALL
FACILITY, WAIVING RELATED RENTAL AND SUPPORT FEES IN THE
AMOUNT OF $1,594 AND DECLARING JUNE 2016 AS LAVENDER MONTH
WHEREAS, a request was made by the American Cancer Society (ACS)
to host the annual 2016 Relay for Life Program at Lynwood City Park and for
additional, related support services; and
WHEREAS, the purpose of the event is to bring national and local cancer
awareness to Lynwood and area residents and to conduct fundraising activities
benefitting ACS cancer research and public programs; and
WHEREAS, June has been designated as Cancer Survivor Awareness
Month; and
WHEREAS, the Lynwood Relay for Life event will take place from 9:00
a.m., Saturday, June 25 through 9:00 a.m., Sunday, June 26, 2016.
NOW THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD
DOES HEREBY FIND, PROCLAIM, ORDER AND RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The City Council approves the requested program support,
use of City facilities and the waiver of rental fees in the amount of $1,594.
Section 2. The City Council further finds that the request serves the
important public purpose of educating Lynwood residents community -wide.
Section 3. The City Council proclaims June 2016 as "Lavender Month"
in recognition and honor of cancer survivors.
Section 4. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its
adoption.
Section 5. The City Clerk shall certify as to the adoption of this City
Council Resolution.
