Mayor Chavez called the City Council Special Meeting to order at 7 :07 p.m . in the Community Room located at 9701 Las Tunas Drive, Temple City. 2. ROLLCALL PRESENT: Councilmember-Bium, Sternquist, Vizcarra (entered meeting at 7 :56p.m.), Yu, Chavez ABSENT: Councilmember-None ALSO PRESENT: Community Development Director Masura, Deputy City Clerk Kuo, Public Safety Officer Ariizumi PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE Mayor Chavez led those present in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. 3 . COMMITTEE MATTERS Steve Smith, landscape architect with Gruen Associates, presented Council with design options for transit stations , seating nodes and street furniture . Robin Perkins, environmental graphics consultant with Seibert Perks Design, presented Council with the design for city monuments and logos. Consultants from Gruen Associates , Seibert Perks Design and Vanir Construction management addressed Council questions and concerns. At the conclusion of the meeting, the Council discussed the design options for the transit stations, seating nodes, street furniture , city monuments and logo. , Councilmember Blum moved to approve city monument design option #1 as presented (fluted top with city logo option, #3 on the lower part of the monument); bus shelter to include solar element for lighting feature ; seating node to include art, illumination and anti-skateboard features ; seating bench as presented and all three logos as presented, seconded by Councilmember Vizcarra and unanimously carried by the following roll call vote : City Council Minutes January 19, 2012 Page 2 AYES: NOES: ABSENT: ABSTAIN : Councilmember-Bium , Sternquist, Yu, Chavez, Vizcarra Councilmember-None Councilmember-None Councilmember-None 4. PUBLIC COMMENTS Ken Knollenberg , Temple City resident, wanted to know how many monuments would be installed . Steve Smith, landscape architect with Gruen Associates, said that six to eight monuments will be installed . 5.
