Dear Peter,
Newbury College has been fortunate to be one of the few colleges to use Victory Field for both
practices and contests since it was renovated in 2012. It has been a privilege to practice and play
on such an outstanding facility. Newbury Baseball is proud to call Victory Field one of its home
venues. We certainly hope to continue the relationship going forward.
As a college athletics director, supporting a college baseball program in the city of Boston is one
of my greatest challenges. It is incredibly difficult because we do not have our own facility to
practice and host games. Add to that the New England weather, the short season, and the lack of
available fields in and around Brookline and it may seem even impossible. When Victory Field
was renovated and programs like Newbury gained access to a synthetic turf baseball diamond in
February/March in New England, it simply changed "the game." It has been a tremendous
advantage to be able to practice outside, to play those early season games and at a facility that
coaches and players can be truly proud of. It is our hope that the Town of Watertown continues
to recognize the benefit of outside rentals not just in dollars but in building a relationship with
local communities that surround the town.
On behalf of Newbury College, we thank you and the Town of Watertown for allowing us to be
a part of this very prestigious group. We consider Victory Field to be an elite venue for a college
program and hope that we can call it "home" for years to come.
Regards,
Koeted
