The regular meeting of Council was held to -day at 4:00 p.m. and was attended by Mayor Bright, who presidec,and Councilmen Sharpley, Logan, Blumenthal, Righton and Logan. Also Messrs. .C.Bull, Sam Rhode and* C.N.t0oberdl. The minutes of the meetings of March 3rd, April 12th, April 29th, and May 3rd were read and approved. Mr. E.C.Bull petitioned that the Town raise the present license for dairy products tol 50.00 per year. rr null was excused. After some discussion it was moved and seconded and passed that the present license of $ 7.50 assessed for dairies remain as is. ( As $ 50.00 was collected from Annettes Dairy the Treasurer was instructed to refund $ 42.50) Mr. C.N.Roben$spetitioned that be he being a farmer that he be exempt from paying a license fdr selling dairy products. Mr. Roberds was excused. After some discussion it was moved and seconded and passed that the petitioned be granted. Mr. Sam Rhode petitioned that he be granted pemmission to hold an automobile race on the island sometime during July, several racing drivers of national reputation had informed him 172 that they would enter and drive their cars if the race could be arranged, Mr. Rhode stated that the event would be given considerable publicity of which Savannah Beach would benefit. Mr Rhode was excused. After some discussion it was deci 174 the following ordinance was placed on first reading and on agreement of Council was placed on second reading and upon motion made and seconded and passed, wasadopted; ORD INACE AN ORDINANCE to be entitled " an ordinance to provide for, regulate and permit the possession and sale of beverages authorized by law, within certain territory, within the cor- porate limits of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, Ga., to pro- vide for the granting of licenses to permit sale of the same; to provide penalties for any infraction hereof and for other purposes. SECTION 1 BE IT ORDAINED by the Mayor and Councilmen of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, Ga., in regular meeting assembled that any person, firm or corporation, within the cotporate limits of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, Ua., but not less than within Two Hundred (225) and Twenty -five feet of any portion of that cettain dancing pavilion now located upon said island and known as Tybrisa, shall be permitted, upon the obtaining of a license and the payment -of a fee as hereinafter provided, be allowed to have in possession, sell and dispense any legal beverage as described by the laws of the State of Georgia, containing an alcoholic con- tent of more than Four (%%) per cent of alcohol. SECTION 2 Before, however, any such person, firm or corporation shall have in possession or offer for sale any such beverage within the limits as hereih described, there shall be first obtained from the Mayor and Councilmen of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, Ga., a licensefor the posses- sion an4 or sale thereof, which said license shall be issued by said Mayor and Councilmen of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, Georgia, in their discretion and after due application has been madetherefore SECTION 3 Any such person, firm or corporation ob- taining such license, before having in possession such bev- erage or before selling or offering for sale such beverage, they shall first pay to said Mayor and Councilmen of Sav- annaa Beach, Tybee Island, Ga., a license fec in the sum of One Hundred (1150.00) Fifty Dollars, for such time or times as shall be provided at the time of obtaining said license which said fee shall be paid in advance and for cash at the time of obtaining such license. SECTION 4 Any person, firm, or corporation violating any of theprovisions of this ordinance shall,i;pon convidt- ion before the Police Court of said municipality, for each and every offense, be subjected to pay a fine of One Hundred (1)100.00) Dollars or be imprisioned for a period. of Thirty Days, either or both, in the discretion of the judge pres- iding at said court at the time of such trial. SECTION 5 BE IT FIRTH R ORDAINED that in addition to the penalties hdre .ii`= pr64ided to be imposed upon any person, 1 firm, or dorporation violating any section of this ordinance that the presiding judge of said Police Court may, in his discretion, revoke and annul any permit herebefore provided for. SECTION 6 BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED by the authority aforesaid that any and all ordinances, or any portions thereof, in con- flict herewith be and the same are hereby repealed. An ordinance to be entitled "An ordinance to provide pen - alties for damage to or destruction of any public property within the corporated or jurisdictional limits of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, Georgia, and particularly damage to any roadway, street, lane, alley or public place within the corporate or jurisdictional limts of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, Georgia, and for orher purposes: SECTION 1 BE IT ORDAINED by the Mayor and Councilmen of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, Georgia, in regular meeting, assembled, and it is hereby ordained by the authority of the same that, form and after the passage of this ordinance any pernon,firm or corporation who shall in anywise deface, damage or destroy or caused to be defaced, damaged or destroyed any runic prorert; of any kind or character within the corporate s k 4 irisdiOti©ndl'limits cfnSava nah Beach, Tybee Island, Georgia, or shall damage or cause to be damagedany street, roadway, lane, throughfare or public place within said cor- porate or jurisdictional limits, shall upon conviction before the Recorders Court of Savanah Beach, Tybee Island, Georgia, be fined for each offense, a sum not exceeding One Hundred (3100.00) Dollars or be imprisioned for a period not exceed- ing Thirty (30) days or any portion of either or both in the discretion of the Court. SECTION 2 This ordinance sha 1 be 'held to especially applic- able to any person, firm or corporation, who shall, without proper authority cut or open any street, roadway, lane, alley or other public place for for thepurose of laying or installing water pipes, electric or telephone wires, sew- erage or mains for any other reason or who shall when given proper authority for the cutting or opening of any such street, roadway, lane alley or other public place, fail or neglect, after the completion of the w3rk for which said street, roadway, lane, alley or other public place was cut or opened, to restore immediately the same to ist former condition. SECTION 3 BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that.all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith be and the same are hereby repealed. 175 176 There being no further business Council adjourned subject to the call of the Mayor. ,3)/d6ce, Clerk of Coun "il. The regular meeting of Council was held to -day at 4:00 p.m. and mks attended by Mayor Bright, who presided, and Council- men Blumenthal* Logan, Righton, Lovell and Sharpley. A petition was read from the J.F.Griffin Fuel Supply Co., that two gasoline pumps erected by them on the corner of First Street avid Third Avenue, in violati n of tnwn regula- tions,be permitted to remain. On metionmaha seconded and passed the petition was refused. Complaint having been mpde that the Hotel Tybee was operating 8n additional drink stand on grounds outside of the main building and not paying a license for it, Council was informed permission was given to do this provided that the stand was movable. On motion made and seconded and passed it was ordered that a new bicycle be purchased for use of the Police Department to cost not over 28.00. AN ORDINANCE to be entitled " An ordinance to forbid, within the corporate jurisdictional limits of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, Georgia, the parking of any automobile, wagon or toher vehicles within Ten (10) feet of each side of any . fire plug now or hereafter to be installed upon said Island and for other purposes. SECTION 1 BE IT ORDAINED by the Mgzyor and Councilmen of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, Georgia, in regular meeting assembled that from and after the passage of this ordinance it shall be unlawful for any person to park or permit Maybe parked any automobile, wagon or other vehicle within Ten (10) feet of either side of any fire plug within the corporate or juris- dictional limits of said municipality as now or hereafter established.
