Home My Public Portal AboutOrdinance No. 428-79 11-05-1979 ORDINANCE NO. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RICHLAND HILLS, TEXAS, that: 1. All abandoned, stolen, or recovered property of every kind, except motor vehicles, which shall remain unclaimed within .the pol-ice department for a period of four months, without being claimed or reclaimed by the owner, whether known or not, may be sold at public auction or appropriated to the City's use, as provided herein. 2 . The Chief of Police, or his designee, shall be responsible for this sale . Thirty days notice of the time and place of sale of all property to be offered for sale and a descri..ptive list of the property shall be posted at the door of the Tarrant County Courthouse and at or near the front entrance to the Richland Hills City Hall and a copy thereof sent to the last known address of the owner if the name of such owner is known. Thereafter, such property shall be offered for sale at public auction to the highest bidder. Such property may be offered as individual items or assembled in lots at the discretion of the Chief of Police. Provided, however, that the head of any city department may request in writing that any items offered ~ for sale he assigned to his or her department. The 1Vfayor may, at his or her discretion, assign such item or items to such department or order them sold at the public auction. 4 ~.I. ~ ~ ~ I 3. All sales at the public auction shall be for cash and the funds received turned over to the City Secretary. The City Secretary shall place the monies received in the General Fund of the City. 4. It shall be unlawful for any officer or employee of the City, either directly or indirectly, to submit bids or to purchase any property sold pursuant to this ordinance. 5.
