A RESOLUTION OF THECITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CARSON,CALIFORNIA, REPEALING
RESOLUTION NO.02-032 ENTITLED "A
: RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CARSON,CALIFORNIA,APPROVING A
SOLID WASTE FRANCHLSE AGREEMENT WITH
BFI WASTE SYSTEMS OF NORTH AMERICA,
INC."

THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARSON, CALIFORNIA,
DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
1. The City Council of the City of Carson does hereby find determine and
declare that:
a. On February 26,2002 the City Council adopted Resolution
No. 02-032 entitled, "A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CARSON, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING A SOLID WASTE
FRANCHISE AGREEMENT WITH BFI WASTE SYSTEMS OF NORTH
AMERICA,INC."
b. On March 26, 2002 the City Clerk received petitions
seeking a referendum on Resolution No. 02-232("Petitions")and on March 27,
2002 submitted the petitions to the Registrar-Recorder of Los Angeles County for
verification of the signatures pursuant to Elections Code Sections 9240, 9114 and
9115.
C. On April 10,2002,the Registrar-Recorder reported to the
City Clerk that the Petitions contained at least 4,675 valid signatures of registered
voters in the City of Carson,greater than 10%of the voters of the City.
d. On April 17, 2002 the City Clerk certified to the City
Council the sufficiency of the petitions.
2. The City Council hereby accepts the certification by the City Clerk that
4,675 sufficient signatures were submitted on the Petitions and that the number of
signatures submitted exceed the requirement for reconsideration of Resolution No. 02-
032, pursuant to Elections Code Section 9337. The City Council is required to either
entirely repeal the resolution against which the petition was filed or submit the resolution
to the voters.

3. Pursuant,to the authority set forth in Elections Code and other applicable
law,the City Council of the City of Carson hereby entirely repeals Resolution No. 02-032
entitled,"A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARSON,
CALIFORNIA, APPROVING A SOLID WASTE FRANCHISE AGREEMENT WITH
BFI WASTE SYSTEMS OF NORTH AMERICA,INC."
