SUBJECT: PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION ACTIONS-MEETING OF
JULY 16,2014
RECOMMENDATION:
The City Council is requested to receive and file the Parks and Recreation Commission
actions from their meeting of July 16, 2014.
BACKGROUND:
On July 16, 2014, the Parks and Recreation Commission held their regularly scheduled
meeting.
ANALYSIS:
Following is a summary of actions taken at the July 16 , 2014 Parks and Recreation
Commission meeting:
1. ROLL CALL:
Present: Commissioner-Fish, Rosso, Vice-Chairman Haddad, Chairman
Georgina
Absent: Commissioner -None
Excused: Commissioner-Lopez
2. REORGANIZATION OF COMMISSION
The Parks and Recreation Commission reorganized electing Commissioner
Haddad as Chairman and Commissioner Rosso as Vice-Chairman for Fiscal Year
(FY) 2014-15.

3. CONSENT CALENDAR
The Parks and Recreat ion Commission approved the minutes from their Regular
Meeting of June 18, 2014 and received and filed the monthly reports for June
2014.
4 . UNFINISHED BUSINESS
A. CONTINUED DISCUSSION REGARDING REVISIONS TO THE TEMPLE
CITY MUNICIPAL CODE (TCMC) RELATIVE TO ALLOWING DOGS IN
CITY PARKS
The Parks and Recreation Commission continued their discussion on a
proposed amendment to the TCMC which would allow leashed dogs in
certain areas of the City's parks. The Commission approved the proposed
ordinance and recommended approval to the City Council.
5. NEW BUSINESS
A. REQUEST FOR CONSIDERATION OF A FEE WAIVER FROM SWEET
A'PEELS FOR RESERVED USE OF THE LARGE PICNIC SHELTER AT
LIVE OAK PARK FOR A NEEDY MOTHERS AND CHILDREN DONATION
EVENT ON FEBRUARY 7, 2015.
The Commission continued the item to a later date to allow the applicant an
opportunity to respond to Commission questions.
B. REQUEST FROM TEMPLE CITY AMERICAN YOUTH SOCCER
ORGANIZATION (AYSO) TO WAIVE THE 51% RESIDENCY
REQUIREMENT FOR RESERVED USE OF THE ATHLETIC FIELDS AT
LIVE OAK PARK FOR THEIR 2014 SEASON
Temple City AYSO submitted rosters showing that 374 of their 844 registered
participants (44%) are Temple City residents. The Parks and Recreation
Commission was requested to waive the 51% residency requirement. The
Commission approved the request.
C. REQUEST FROM TEMPLE CITY AMERICAN YOUTH SOCCER
ORGANIZATION (AYSO) FOR AUTHORIZATION TO ALLOW OUTSIDE
VENDORS , INFLATABLE BOUNCERS, AND CARNIVAL GAMES FOR
THEIR 2014 SOCCERFEST ON NOVEMBER 15, 2014
The Commission approved the request.

6. MATTERS FROM CITY OFFICIALS
A. The Commission received and filed the Parks and Recreation Director's
Report for July 2014.
CONCLUSION:
The City Council is requested to receive and file this report.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This item does not have an impact on the Fiscal Year (FY) 2014-15 City Budget.
