October 4th, 1935. the regular meeting of Council was held to-day at 4:00 p.m. and attended hy Rayor Bright, 7110-presided, and. Councilmen Lovell, Sharpley, Blumenthal and. Righton, Town Attorney McIntire, and Messrs. Marvin O'Neal, J.A.Hester, S.N.Harris, .d;.F.Broderick,jr., and DR. R.V.Harris. Yr. °Neal, appearing as attorney for Mr. J.A.Taylor applied for a license to sell beer at his new location at Butler Avenue and. First Street. Mr. hester, appenrly 7,E1 attorney for r. Thomas Gamble, peti- tioned that the application of Mr. Taylor be refused. After presenting their respective cases both were excused. Council discussed the matter very thoroughly and on motion made and seconded and passed the application was refused. Ayes; Righton, Sharpley and Blumenthal. Nos; Lovell. Messrs Broderick, Harris and Dr. Barris appeared before the Board protesting against the issuance of parking space tickets; Mr. Broderick contended that 29 books had been issued to persons iliost of whom were not property owners and also that pertain per- sons were Permitted to remain longer than thirty minutes in the tkirty minute parking areas. - Mr. Harris stated that he saw no objection to issueing passes to certain people but he felt that property owners of Tybee are contributing more than the average visitor, he resents the idea requiring property owners tp pay for the use of the parking areas, so he dosent use it. He sug- gested that property owners be given the privilege of using the parking spaces on certain days without charge. r. Dr. Harris stated that if it was necessary to give passes to some people go ahead and give them. The commitee was excused and Council after discussing the matter requested the opinion of the town attorney who stated that it was impossible to work out any legal way to handle it, property owners have no more legal right than anyone else to use parking spaces. Council decided that no more free tickets would be issued. It was decided that Yr. H.L.Thomas would be permitt to occu- py the house that he is now living in formerly used7ttle Town hall for the remainder of theyear. ielephone service will be continued at 16th street and discon- tinued at the jail. re being no further btsiness Council adjourned subject to e call of tj Mayor.
