GREENCASTLE COMMON COUNCIL
EXECUTIVE SESSION
TUESDAY, OCTOBER 13, 1998 6:00 P.M. PUTNAM COUNTY LIBRARY
and Gary Pershing from the Greencastle Development Center and John Lanie from Lear
Corporation.
The Greencastle Common Council met in Executive Session Tuesday, October 13, 1998, 6:00
p.m. at the Putnam County Library. Mayor Michael called the meeting to order. On the Roll Call,
the following were found to be present: Councilor Roach, Councilor Hammer, Councilor Green,
Councilor Baynard and Councilor Masten. Also present was City Attorney Trudy Selvia, Bill Dory
This meeting is to request a five year tax abatement for Lear Corporation which is redesigning
their plant and expanding their equipment over the next several years. John Lanie stated that
between November 1, 1998 and December 31, 2000 Lear Corporation is going to acquire and put
into production S 11,643,095.00 worth of equipment and will add approximately 30 to 60 new
employees. After some discussion it was requested the dollar amount for used equipment be
pulled out of the total and the abatement only be sought for the new equipment. With that
agreement a meeting was set for October 20, 1998 for the first Resolution regarding abatement for
Lear Corporation.
Motion to adjourn made by Councilor Hammer, seconded by Councilor Masten. Vote was
unanimous.
