A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARSON,
CALIFORNIA, SUPPORTING THE IMM GRA
RESPONSIBILITY AND SECURITY ACT (SB 1160)
WHEREAS, the immigrant Responsibility and Security Act (SB 1160) will delete the

WHEREAS SB 1160 will modify the requirement that an applicant for an 0

provide a federal individual taxpayer identification number if the applicant signs an

affidavit under the penalty of perjury attesting he or she is ineligible for a soda security
number; and
WHEREAS, SB 1160 will provide that an applicant who has declared he is 0 ineligible to
a social security number and has submitted a taxpayer identification number,
must also submit "a full set of fingerprints to the Department of Justice utilizing a
operator for purposes of a b ackground check using the Calitornia 0
cetified li vescan

Identification System, and a background check with the federal
Automated Fingerprint
Automated Criminal History System;" and
WHEREAS, SB 1160 will exclude these individuals from the list of names

submitted to county jury commissioners for the purpose of jury service; and
WHEREAS, SB 1160 will require that applicants present for identification

relations, and the card is manufactured following certain security requirements; and

these stipulations will ultimately provide increased safety to California 41
drivers and edestrians by licensing all motorists, citizens and non-citizens alike; and

WHEREAS,
SB 1160 will strengthen homeland security, public safety and immigrant
responsibility, citizenship and civic participation; and
WHEREAS, this legislation will not cost the state any money to implement since SB
1160 will be funded by applicants; and
WHEREAS, SB 1160 will enable hard working, taxpaying California residents to
continue to contribute to the State's economy, and provide them a means of transportation to
work and care for their families.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of Carson appreciates the importance of
this legislation and supports the Immigrant Responsibility and Security Act (SB 1160).
