A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARSON,
CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING GRAND FUNDS IN SUPPORT OF THE DRIVING
UNDER THE INFLUENCE (DUI) CHECKPOINT PROGRAM.
WHEREAS, the City of Carson and the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department will manage and
administer a grant from the Office of Traffic Safety in the amount of $133,500 to provide monthly
Driving Under the Influence (DtTI) checkpoints for the fiscal grant year beginning November 1, 2004 to
December 31, 2005; and
WHEREAS, Los Angeles Sheriff's Deputies will staff monthly DUI checkpoints and utilize a
self-contained nailer to reduce the number of impaired DUI drivers on City streets, which will, in turn,reduce the number ofalcohol-involved traffic collisions; an
WHEREAS, the DUI checkpoint program goal will be to achieve a 5 percent reduction in alcohol
inN7olved collisions by the end of the grant period.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved that the City Council of the City of Carson does hereby
affirm its support for the Driving Under the Influence(DUT) Checkpoint Program Grant.
