HomeMy Public PortalAbout04-154 RESOLUTION NO. 04-154 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARSON, CALIFORNIA, ORDERING- THAT A PROPOSITION RELATED TO INCREASING THE TRANSIENT OCCUPANCY TAX FROM NINE PERCENT TO TWELVE PERCENT BE SUBMITTED TO THE VOTERS AT THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION ON MARCH 8, 2005 THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARSON DOES RESOLVE AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The City Council has previously called and given notice of the General Municipal Election to be held in the City on March 8, 2005. Section 2. The City Council, pursuant to its right and authority, does hereby mm�mmmwnwm� order submitted to the voters at such Special Municipal Election the following proposition: YES Shall Ordinance No. 04-1328 be adopted, which ordinance renames NO the transient occupancy tax to the Uniform Hotel Visitors Tax and increases such tax from 9% to 12%? Section 3. The text of the proposed ordinance to be submitted to the voters is attached hereto as Exhibit A and incorporated herein by reference. The type of tax, the rate of tax to be levied and the method of collection are stated therein. Section 4. The method of collection of the transient occupancy tax is as specified in Carson Municipal Code Article VI, Chapter 4. Section 5. In all particulars not recited in this Resolution, the election shall be held and conducted as provided by law for holding municipal elections. Section 6. Notice of the time and place of holding the election is hereby given and the City Clerk is authorized, instructed and directed to give further or additional notice of the election, in time, form and manner as required by law. I of 2- 741166.2 Section 7. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this Resolution and shall enter it into the book of original resolutions.
