A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF CARSON, CALIFORNIA9 OppOSING
THE INTENDED CLOSURE OF THE TRAUMACENTER AT
CENTER
MARTIN LUTHER KING,JR. IDRE�'�' MEDIC
WHEREAS, the trauma ce nter at Martin Luther King, Jr. /Drew Medical Center is the
second-busiest trauma center in Los Angeles; and
patients, including 1,186 who
WHEREAS, in 2003 the center treated 2J50 trauma and 964 from penetrating trauma,
suffered from blunt trauma from an automobile accident;
primarily from gunshots and stab wounds; and
Angeles City Fire Department has indicated that they transport
WHEREAS, the L day King/Drew; and
approximately 16 patients per
WHEREAS, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors has announced its intention
to close the trauma center at King/Drew Medical Center; and
WHEREAS, this action will have a negative i act of the County's emergency medical
