It was moved: and seconded and passed that Mr. W. T. Bryan be
appointed Superintendent of Construction at a salary of $162.00
per month for the duration of the Beach Protection Work being
done in connection with the Works Progress Adminstration, and
iat Mr. H. L. Thomas be appointed acting Superintendent of
/G4e Works at his present salary.
There being no further business Council adjourned subject to

The regular meeting of Council was held today at 4 :00 p. m. and
was attended by Councilman J. T. Cann, Chairman of Council, who
presided, and Councilmen Logan, Righton, Blumenthal, Lovell, and
Town Attorney McIntire.
In connection with the Beach P rotection Mork it is necessary that
an agreement be gotten from several property owners at the South
end of the Island on whose property it is proposed to erect one of
the groins, relieving the To and U. S. Government from any
liability. The Town Attorney was instructed to draw up a form of
agreement necessary so that necessary signatures could be gotten.
The proposed contract between the Tybee Water Works and the Town
relative to furnishing water for the use on Beach Protection was
discussed and the Mayor was authorized to approve same after it
was finally gotten into form by the Town Attorney.
The mule shed at the Convict Camp was reported to be in very bad
condition. The matter was referred to the Mayor and the Pin;tbt
o.Ato investigate with authority to act.
The Town Attorney informed Council that a suit has been instituted
in Court by Mr. Jacob Gazan as Attorney for Carroll Hymes, who
contends that her feet were seriously burned last July by walking
tinto the asphalt that was being laid on the new parkway. After
some discussion it was decided to appoint a committee consisting
of the Mayor, Councilman Righton and Mr. McIntire, to handle the
matter and with power to adjust the matter if possiple to the best
interest of the Town.
Councilman Sharpley suggested that if possible some effort should
be made to get a government grant with a view to putting in sanitary
drainage for the whole Island. Dr. Righton was appointed as a
committee of one to get in touch with the U. S. Public Health Service
to ascertain what the requirements would be.

Councilman Logan informed Council that an effort was being made
to get 7ederai assistance for a project to put in Beach protection
at the North End of Fort Screven. The work would cost appraimately
440,000.00 and the County and City authorities had co- operated in
an effort to get an allocation of funds for this work. This was
received as information.
In appreciation of the splendid co- operation and assistance given
by Mrs. Gay B. Shepardson of Atlanta, the Mayor was requested to
write a letter to her informing her of the appreciation of Coun,,cii
for her kind co- operation, and also to inform, her of the splendid
assistance given by Mr. 'Thomas Haynes and Bar. Donald R. Nichols
of the local office.
There being no further business Council adjourned subject to the

March 23rd, 1936.
A special meeting of Council was held today at 4 :00 p. m. and
was attended by MaymBright, who presided, and Councilmen Cann, Logan,
Lovell, Sharpley, Highton, and Town Attorney McIntire.
The following registered voters were appointed to serve as managers
in the election to be on April 6th: W. a. Fitzpatrick,
Chas. Boblasky,IUm. W. Henry and Mrs. Sarah L. Curry Ada alternate
managers, each to be paid $5.00 for their service.
Mr. H. L. Thomas, Sanitary Inspector, was killed on the morning of
March 15th, at 12:30 A. M. in an automobile accident. It was moved
and seconded and passed that his family be paid his full months
salary.
It was moved and seconded and passed that the clerk employ an
assistant to start work on Wednesday, March 25th and continue thru
the month of May 31st, at a salary of $40.00 per month.
It was moved and seconded and 'passed that Mr. L. C. Yonge, Engineer
in charge of the . P. A. Beach Protection Project be allowed a
maximum of 15 gallons of gas per week.
