ANALYSIS:
Since February 2012, the City of Temple City/Temple City Unified School District
Standing Committee has been discussing a possible joint project for the purchase and
installation of a new scoreboard in the gymnasium at Oak Avenue Intermediate School.
At the most recent meeting of the Standing Committee, City representatives agreed to
recommend funding of one-half the cost of the purchase and installation of the
scoreboard for Oak Avenue. The quotation received from Fair-Play Scoreboard
Company is $6,008.94 ($5 ,1 08 .94 plus $900 for installation). The City's cost would be
$3,004.47.
On June 7, 2011, the City Council approved an Agreement for Funding of
Improvements and Joint Use of Gymnasium at Oak Avenue Intermediate School. The
Agreement authorized the City to pay for one-half the cost of a new floor in the
gymnasium at Oak Avenue Intermediate School. The Agreement also provides the City
to use the Oak Avenue gymnasium a minimum of 25 per week throughout the term of
the five-year agreement.
In consideration of payment of one-half the cost of the scoreboard, staff is
recommending the Agreement for Funding of Improvements and Joint Use of
Gymnasium at Oak Avenue Intermediate School be amended to include payment in an
amount not to exceed $3,004.47 for the scoreboard as well as authorization for
designated City staff to use the scoreboard in the course of City sponsored programs in
the gymnasium .
CONCLUSION:
The City of Temple City/Temple City Unified School District Standing Committee has
recommended the City Council approve payment of one-half the cost of a new
scoreboard for the Oak Avenue Intermediate School gymnasium. The Council is
requested to approve the First Amendment to the Agreement for Funding of
Improvements and Joint Use of Gymnasium at Oak Avenue Intermediate School.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Sufficient funds are available in the Fiscal Year (FY) 2011-12 City Budget, account 01-
940-57-4690, Special Program Expense, to cover this expense.

FIRST AMENDMENT TO AGREEMENT
FOR FUNDING OF IMPROVEMENTS AND JOINT USE OF
GYMNASIUM AT OAK AVENUE INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL
The undersigned do hereby amend the Agreement between the City of Temple City
(CITY) and the Temple City Unified School District (DISTRICT), dated July 7, 2011, as
follows:
Section I
SCOPE OF SERVICES
In consideration of using the GYMNASIUM as provided herein, CITY shall pay an
amount, not to exceed Three Thousand Four Dollars and Forty Seven Cents
($3,004 .47) for one half (1 /2) the reasonable cost of purchase, supplies, freight, and
installation for a new Scoreboard for the GYMNASIUM.
In consideration of CITY's payment as provided above DISTRICT shall make the
scoreboard available for authorized community recreation programs sponsored by
CITY. Scoreboard shall be used only by authorized and trained CITY staff.
Notwithstanding the aforementioned Amendment, all other provisions of said Agreement
shall remain in effect.
