A RESOLU'T'ION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CARSON, CALIFORNIA, IN SUPPORT OF THE CARSON HIGH
SCI-IOOL FIELD IMPROVEMENT PROJECT
WHEREAS, the Carson Iligh School track and field are in desperate need of
improvements; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the city of Carson support improvements to
the field at Carson High School, the only high school in the city; and
WIIEREAS, Board Member Vladovic and his staff have been very supportive
of the project and instrumental in communicating with representatives from the city of
Carson to move this project forward; and
WHEREAS, Los Angeles Unified School District has secured 2.3 million
dollars to be used for a new field at Carson High School; and
WIIEREAS, additional funds need to be secured in order to cover all costs of
the improvements to the new field; and
WHEREAS, matching funds from the corporate citizens are encouraged and
sought after by the city of Carson; and
WHEREAS, Board Member Vladovic has suggested the city submit a proposal
for a joint use partnership; and
WIIEREAS, on December 2, 2009, city staff forwarded a proposal for the joint
use partnership to Ana Lasso, Acting Director of Joint Use Development Program for
Los Angeles Unified School District; and
WHEREAS, the next steps for Los Angeles Unified School District
representatives to walk the high school campus, conduct their project evaluation and
produce their estimates.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, the City Council of the city of
Carson supports the Carson High School field improvements.
