ORDINANCE NO. 555
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CODE OF ORDINANCES.,
CITY OF RICHLAND HILLS, TEXAS, CHAPTER 7,
OFFENSES & NUISANCES, SECTION 2: NOISE,
SUBPARAGRAPH C. LOUD NOISES ENUMERATED BY
ADDING A NEW SUBPARAGRAPH (15) PROHIBITING THE
USE OF LOUDSPEAKER, PUBLIC ADDRESS SYSTEM OR
SIMILAR DEVICE IN A COMMERICAL ZONE ADJACENT
TO A RESIDENTAL ZONE; PROVIDING A PENALTY;
PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION AND PROVIDING AN -
EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
RICHLAND HILLS, TEXAS, THAT:
I.
Chapter 7, OFFENSES & NUISANCES, Section 2: NOISE,
SUBPARAGRAPH C. LOUD NOISES ENUMERATED, of the Code of
Ordinances, City of Richland Hills, Texas., is hereby amended by
adding a new subparagraph (15) to read as follows:
"SECTION 2: NOISE
(C) LOUD NOISES ENUMERATED
The following acts are declared to be nuisances in
violation of this section, but said enumeration shall
not be deemed exclusive:
(15) The use or operation for any commercial purpose of
any loudspeaker, public address system or similar
device in a commercial zone adjacent to a
residential zone that creates any sound plainly
audible at a distance of 100 feet from the source
of the sound or at the residential property line,
whichever distance is shorter."
II.
The caption of this ordinance shall be published in the
~ff?cial newGn~ner of. the City of Richland Hills, Texas.
Further, copies of the ordinance shall be made available by the
City Secretary, City of Richland Hills, Texas, upon request, to
any person interested therein.

III.
Any person, firm, or corporation violating any portion
of this ordinance or of the Code of Ordinances, City of Richland
Hills, Texas, so amended, shall be deemed guilty of a Class C
misdemeanor and shall be fined a sum not in excess of $200.00.
IV.
This Ordinance shall be effective from and after its
passage and publication, and it is so Ordered.
PRESENTED AND PASSED by the City of Richland Hills, Texas, by
a vote of 4 "AYES" and 0 "NAYS" and 0
"ABSTENTIONS, this the 10th day of March , 1986.
