HomeMy Public PortalAboutOrdinance No. 557-86 06-09-1986 ORDINANCE NO, 557 BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RICHLAND HILLS, TEXAS, CALLING AND PROVIDING FOR THE HOLDING OF AN ELECTION ON AUGUST 9, 1986, FOR THE PURPOSE OF SUBMITTING TO THE RESIDENT QUALIFIED VOTERS OF THE CITY OF RICHLAND HILLS, A PROPOSITION CONCERNING AND RELATING TO THE ADOPTION OR REJECTION OF THE PROPOSED HOME RULE CHARTER FOR SAID CITY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RICHLAND HILLS, TEXAS: I, That an election be held in and throughout the City of Richland Hills, Texas, for the purpose of submitting to the resident qual- ified voters of said City the following proposition, to-wit: PROPOSITION "SHALL THE PROPOSED HOME RULE CHARTER FOR THE CITY OF RICHLAND HILLS, TEXAS, BE ADOPTED?" II, That for the purpose of holding said election, the following location is hereby designated as the polling place for such election: Richland Hills City Hall. The palls shall remain open on the day of the election from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. III, The following persons are hereby designated and appointed elec- tion officers for the holding of said election: PRESIDING JUDGE Russell Miller ALTERNATE PRESIDING JUDGE Fred Schroder That the Alternate Presiding Judge above named, in the absence of the Presiding Judge, shall perform the duties of the Presid- ing Judge in said election, The Presiding Judge shall appoint qualified voters who are residents of the City of Richland Hills, Texas, to serve as Clerks in said election; the appointment of such clerks to include the Alternate Presiding Judge, who if present shall be appointed and counted as one of the election clerks. IV. That absentee voting in said election shall be conducted at the City Hall of said City in Richland Hills, Texas, and the City Secretary is hereby charged with the duty of conducting absentee voting in said election as required by law. V. That it is hereby determined that paper ballots shall be used in conducting said election, and that said ballots shall be prepared in conformity with the Election Code of Texas, as amended, and in such manner that the voters mdy vote either "YES" or "NO" on the proposition, which proposition shall be printed on the ballot in the same form as contained in Paragraph I hereof, VI. That notice of said election shall be given by posting copies of a notice containing a substantial copy of this ordinance at the City Hall and at the aforesaid polling place at least twenty (20) days before the election, and by publishing said Notice of Election at least one time not more than twenty-five (25) days nor less than ten (10) days prior to said election in the official newspaper of the City of Richland Hills.
