AUTHORIZING EMERGENCY SEWER REPAIR CONTRACT
WITH NATIONAL WATER MAIN CLEANING COMPANY

WHEREAS; the Borough of Carteret ( "Borough ") is in need of sewer repairs in various
locations within the Borough; and
V41Z REAS, the Borough's Director of Engineering has certified that said work needed
to be done as an emergency condition threatening the public health, safety, and welfare of
the residents; and
WHEREAS, the Borough Director of Engineering has recommended an award of a
contract to National Water Main Cleaning Company to perform emergency repairs to
these various locations within the Borough; and
WHEREAS, National Water Main Cleaning Company presently has an existing contract
with the Borough to perform emergency repairs to the Borough sewer system.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Mayor and Council of the Borough
of Carteret, County of Middlesex, State of New Jersey, as follows:
1. The appropriate Borough Officials are authorized and directed to
enter into a contract for emergency repairs within the Borough, as
recommended by the Borough's Director of Engineering, in a total
amount not to exceed $20,000.00 in accordance with National
Water Main Company's existing contract with the Borough.
2. That this award is made as an emergency contract.
3. That this award is contingent upon the ability of fronds for said
repairs.
4. That a copy of this Resolution be forwarded to the Borough's
Director of Engineering, Purchasing Department and National
Water Main Cleaning Company.
Adopted this 12 day of December, 2019
and certified as a true copy of the
original on December 13, 2019.

Re: National Watermain
This bill from National Watermain is for emergency work completed at
the corner of Salem and Edwin Street this summer. At that time we
had experienced a blockage within the storm sewer system which
created flooding along both streets. We called in National and they
cleared the blockage.
