present time this ditch was necessary.
Mrs. Evelyn M. Baker, Maraer of Hotel Tybee, petitioned that she
be permitted to erect several awning covered shelters on the be ch,
also th4t the ditch along 15th Street be filled so that cars can be
parked in this'area, also that the Town roll the new Tennis Court
that she is building. Council agreed to fill up the ditch and to
roll the Tennis Court and also allow the erection of the shelters
on the beach, provided that the Town would be protected against
any possibility of damage suits or otherwise.
It was moved and seconded and passed that the motorcycle be re-
paired at a cost of approximately $4.0.00. Councilman Logan was
appointed as a committee of one to look after this.
It was moved and seconded and passed that if two reliable Trusties
could be gotten from the Convict Camp to drive the two new $oagw"E`
trucks that they be paid 50 cents each per week.
A petition from a group of retail grocers stores operating on the
Island requesting that any vehicle coming to the Town limits
delivering groceries be taxed the same as them was presented.
Petition was refused.
There being no further business Council adjourned subject to the
call of the yor.

The re7ular meeting of Council was held today at 4:00 p.m.
and wa: attended by Mayor Bright, who presided, and Council-
men SharDiey, Cann, Solomon, Logan, Lovell acid Righton, also
?`r. A.P.Solms.
The minutes of the meeting of May 4th were read and approved.
Solms petitioned for a reduction in taxes on lots 28 ab,
29 ab, ward 3. Petitioned refused.
On motion mare and seconded and passed the following Rules
of Council of Savannah. Beach, Tybee Island, were adopted;
RULES OF COUNCIL
OF
SAVANNAH BEACH, TYBEE.ISLAND
RULE I. A Special meeting of Council may be called at any
time by the Mayor or any three Councilmen.
RULE 2. During the absence from the City or inability of
the Mayor to act, the Chairman of Council shall per-
form his duties, and if the Chairman of Council also be absent
from the City or unable to act, the Vice - Chairman of Council
shall act as Mayor. Should all three of the named officials
be absent or unable to act, the Chairman of the Finance Com-
mittee shall act as Mayor.
RULE 3. Standing Committees of Council shall be as follows:
1. Finance
2. Streets, Lanes & Public Works
3. Assessments, licenses & New Buildings
4. Health & Water
5. Fire & Lights
6. Police
All Committees shall be appointed by the Mayor and
each Committee shall consist of two members of Council, one of
whom shall be Chairman. The Mayor shall be ex- officio a member
of all Committees.
RU LE 4. The Chairman of each Committee will make a report at
each regular meeting of Council.
RULE 5. The Mayor shall make all appointments of employees of
The Municipality upon the recommendation of the Comm-
ittee under which such employee is to serve. However, the Mayor
shall have the right to disregard any recommendation for appoint-
ment and require that othgr names be submitted. The Mayor shall
have the right to suspend or discharge any such appointee, with
or without recommendation of ,such Committee. In the event of
suspension or discharge of an appointee without recommendation
to that effect by the Committ t, the Mayor shall notify the Com-
mittee. If the Committee concurs in the suspension or discharge
the same shall be final; otherwise, the matter shall be referred
to the next meeting of Council whose action shall be final. In
the interim, the suspension or discharge shall continue.
Any official elected by Council or whose appointment is
subject to the approval of Council may be suspended only by the
Mayor, or Acting Mayor, for causes deemed by him to be sufficient
and he shall report such suspension in writing to Council within
forty - eight hours setting forth in such report the cause of such
suspension. The suspension shall continue until action thereon
by Council at the next meeting, which action shall be final,

• RULE 6. In the usual conduct of Municipal business, instructions
or directions to employees of the Municipality shall be made
through the Chairman, or Acting Chairman, of the Committee having
jurisdiction or Obarge of the particular work or matte4 The
Mayor shall have the right, in his discretion, to issue instruc-
tions or directions direct to employees, notifying the members of
the Committee or Committees interested in such directions. As to
instructions to employees issued by the Mayor through any Com-
mittee, such Committee shall keep the Mayor informed as to the
carrying out of such instructions.
RULE 7. No funds of the Municipality shall be paid out without
the written approval of the Chairman, or Acting Chair-
man of the Finance Committee. No indebtedness shall be incurred
without the sanction of the Chairman, or Acting Chairman, of the
Finance Committee or by action of the Mayor and Council. All
funds shall be disbursed by check signed by the Mayor and the
Clerk of Council.
RULE 8. These rules may be added to, Amended, or repealeid
any regular meeting of Council.

tp give the Town credit for 500.00 to apply on the next pur-
chase of materiels from them.
The Clerk was authorized to extend the period for allowing dis-
counts for payment of 1936 taxesto July 1st, 1936.
Sipple Brothers Undertaking Co., presented a bill for funeral
services rendered to Hr. H.L.Thomas, who was killed in the
services of the Town, for 3 125.00. It was moved and seconded
and passed that p 100.00 be appropriated for this and that Sipple
Brothers be requested to reduce the charge accordingly.
Petition. was read from property owners on Seventeenth Street
requesting the Town to hardsurface this street from Strand to
Butler Avenue. Received as information.
Petition from N±. Ben Garfunkel requesting permission to go
on public highways, beach, ect without a shirt while in bathing
costume. Petition refused.
It was moved and seconded and passed that no complimentarY
tickets would be issmd for use en the oarking seaces.
Yrs. Julia Bailey petitioned that she be granted the discounts
on her east due taxes. Petition grented.

in the Police or .Recorders Court oe said municipality be sentenced
to pay a fine of One :;unfired ( 7100.00) Dollars and serve Thirty

Company, the Citizens Vii,arlk and Trust Company, and the Liberty
Yationa1 Bank and Trust C m -oa iy, are each designated as de %os-
itories for monies of Savannah Beach., Tybee Island, Georgia, and
a11_ collections made or all all monies received shall be deposited
in one of the above named banks selected by the T..layor at the tirr.e
of making the deposit.
