HomeMy Public PortalAboutResolution 12-09 Recreation 4% Convenience FeeRESOLUTION 12-09 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MCCALL, IDAHO, ADOPTING A RECREATION PAYMENT 4% CONVENIENCE FEE; PROVIDING FOR RELATED MATTERS; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, on January 28, 2010 City Council approved Resolution 10-7 adopting a utility payment convenience fee; and WHEREAS, staff has determined that giving the community the option of registering for recreation activities online would provide a needed service; and WHEREAS, there are other ways for customers to pay for recreation activities without the use of a credit card and therefore without a convenience fee; and WHEREAS, according to Idaho Code 63-1311A a public hearing is necessary when the fee increase is in excess of five percent (5%) or a new fee is established; and WHEREAS, a public hearing was properly noticed in the Star News for two consecutive weeks, May 10, 2012 and May 17, 2012; and WHEREAS, a public hearing was held on May 24, 2012; and WHEREAS, the City Council is of the opinion that it is in the best interest of the recreation customers to have the opportunity to use a credit card when registering for recreation activities; and WHEREAS, the City Council is of the opinion that those individuals choosing to use a debit card or credit card should pay the fee and the fee not be paid by those choosing an alternate payment method. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MCCALL, Valley County, Idaho that: Section 1: The following new fee is hereby adopted as the fee for Recreation Payment Convenience when choosing to use a debit card or credit card: 4% of the transaction amount Section 2: Effective Date: The above fee is effective immediately upon adoption and shall remain in effect until further action by the City Council 1 Resolution 12-09 May 24, 2012 Passed and approved this 24 day of May 2012.
