HomeMy Public PortalAbout20180920 - Hopkinton Library Trustees - Meeting MinutesHopkinton Board of Library Trustees Minutes of September 20, 2018 meeting  The Hopkinton Board of Library Trustees met at the Public Library on September 20, 2018. The meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m. Susan Porter, Stan Pulnik, June Harris and Library Director Heather Backman, and were present.   June meeting minutes were presented an approved.   Heather presented her monthly Director’s Report. Summer Saturday hours were added starting on July 14, 2018. The Trustees served refreshments and the Time Capsule Bench was rededicated on the first summer Saturday.  Summer reading was well received, with 582 children and 397 teens taking part. There was less participation in the adult program. In staffing, Sara Hunter has been moved to full time, library has added 2 new reference subs. HR is in the final stages of hiring 6 circulation subs, and has posted a part time Reference/Technology Librarian. Staff and Heather have been attending meetings and seminars in order to advance and maintain skills. Donor plaques have been installed for 1000 Homes naming rights. The main plaque will be installed and dedicated on October 27, 2018. It will be in the Church Street foyer. Heather has applied for CPC funds to frame the Heritage Quilt in UV protective glass. If the CPC elects not to fund this, other options will be explored, as the quilt must be enclosed or fireproofed per the Hopkinton Fire Department. Building issues are being addressed as the building warranty period approaches the 1 year end date.  The Strategic Planning is continuing, and will be ready for submission later this Fall.  The Trustees discussed the First Anniversary Celebration on Saturday October 27, 2018, and agreed to serve cider and doughnuts from 10:30 am – 1:00 pm. We will also conduct hourly tours if patrons request them.  We agreed to delay election of Trustee officers until the full board is present. The 2018 -2019 meeting schedule through January 2019 was set. February – June will be addressed at the next meeting.  No new business was introduced, and the meeting was adjourned at 8:15 pm.
